Hi There,
Just wanna share my experience.
Before picking up my starex (11 seater MPV), did a lot of research before settling for nViro which i think is value for money.
Came up to half the price of VKool Elite 70 and ..............lifetime warranty :top:
RM1,800 vs RM3,600.............. no brainer right?

Anyway performance is real good, what with many large windows, the tint would really need to perform and it certainly does.
:listen: Anyone who wants to look for tints should really put nViro on their list-of-potentials.

Cheers!

When will we learn that excess exposure to sun light will increase the risk of skin cancel due to UV radiation? and yet, our govt decided to turn a blind eye on the topic, just like the "ban all HID" mentality. That's why Taiwan legalised tinting, their weather forecast even announce IR figures so people know when not to go to the beach.

I'm on VKool Elite for all my cars (at least the windshield) because their films are one of the best in IR/UV filtering in the industry. I rather run the risk of getting a ticket from the RIMV enforcer than risking getting skin cancel.

Agree with you on UV.

I have 2 cars with VKool Elite and they both have problems of poor GPS signal reception. Not so on my other 3 cars that are fitted with EcoTint.

Hi guys,

I been cracking my head and I can't decide. I know my dad will do transfer of ownership to me in 2 years, and we might sell the car in 5 years time.

it will be the only opportunity for me to install the tint as the car dealer will have it installed when she delivers the car otherwise at a later time lazy to fork out extra money.

My worries are; Smart tag, Puspakom. Also, for some reason police always like to hassle me in every road block.

Also, my car dealer mentioned that BMW already has a 5% VLT tint. I will assume that the Vkool elite tint will be install on top of the original tint.

Wouldn't that be a problem for the light transmission test? As it will no longer be at 70% VLT but at lower range.

the ultimate question is, would you install the vkool elite considering yourself in my position?

Hi,

Can you please quote for E36 also?

VCOOL/3M for e90 320i

Hi

First of all, I'm not very good of any brand film spec.

I was offered RM1400 from one of my friend for 3M 35% light through film. Is that a good deal?

After reading messages from so many forum, I think is still better to stick with the well known V-Cool film considering the issue about smart tag, GPS problem. Not a big deal for me.

I would like to install V-Cool at the V-cool brances or HQ, not dealer(avoid fake product), but not sure which type to install yet, heat reduction is the first priority, 2nd is the colour.

Can anyone recommend with good price? Maybe you have know someone who can offer more discount should be able to help =)

check out rike-cool this weekend gymkhana event... good discounts...

don't miss out...

Speaking of which, what color of tint will look best on the Black Sapphire? I still cannot make my mind up between Rikecool and V-kool.

consider 3M crystalline 60 for windscreen and crystalline 40 for windows and rear. If dont want too dark, crystalline 70 for windscreen and crystalline 60 for windows and rear. Matches black very well IMO. Heat rejection is superb. Just that smarttag not so smart anymore, must wind down window, unless don't mind cutting a spot on the windscreen, but i'm ok with the smartag issue, so, i chose 3M crystalline 60 for my windscreen.

jaleeks, 40 consider dark wor i bet u wanna take some kodoks for ride ka hehehe

Hi Rikecool,

What are the features and differences among these 3 products?
I'm planning to tint my e90 320i sports (alpine white) too.

How long do i have to leave my car at your place?

I tinted my car this morning at Ecotint Shoppe in USJ9. Damage at RM2k, original price was suppose to be RM2.2k. However for some reason the sales rep must have got confused and though I was a returning customer therefore I advise if you are planning to tint your car, just act as if you are a returning customer.

I am waiting for the tint to cure. So far so good.

I disliked the fact that they do not tell you on how they will install the tint. One of the guys was halfway unscrewing the rear view mirror. Luckily I caught him on time. If he had fucked up with the electronics I doubt Ecotint will pay for the damages. In one of the forums I read a guy who sent his BMW to install some audio and got his electronics short circuit which he fixed at a cost of RM30k.

So I dare not risk the warranty as it is a new car. So they cut the tint around for the rear view mirror. The downside is the heat can go through that hole. For normal cars they normally disassemble the door trims. For mine, they used brute force to pull the top part slightly out. It was painful to see the process. I think all tinted cars go through the same thing.

After the tint, I got into the car. Since it is almost noon, Yes, I can still feel the UV heat. I started thinking to myself, the tint doesn’t seem to make much difference.

I got myself the Ray Barrier, since Ecotint covers the warranty I had hope the tint would be more reflective or darker. However it is quite clear.

The reason I chose Ecotint because it covers transfer of ownership and the sales rep is friendly. Plus the fact that they gave my discount because they thought I was a recurring customer.

The back windows on the smaller window, the tint doesn’t seem to be covering too well because of the small black dots. I guess I just have to wait for the tint to cure then only I ‘ll decide if I should return to them. Also, I notice a few dust stick between the tint and some of the windows.

Update #1

I am getting compliments from people how the color of the tint suits the paint of the car. It looks dark and clear. Just nice for me. When I am sitting inside, it looks so clear. Regarding the heat issue, my colleague who sat my car was amazed on how much the heat was minimized, however for me I didn't feel much difference because I hardly drive under hot sun. During lunches I follow my colleagues car.

Ecotint was a good choice then again my advise is if you plan to tint your car do supervise their workmanship so they don't start disassembling your car without your permission. And watching through the process really hurts. The end result is worth it.

I have 2 cars with VKool Elite and they both have problems of poor GPS signal reception. Not so on my other 3 cars that are fitted with EcoTint.

Some of my recent experiences in 3 cars with 3 different tints:

1. V-Kool Elite - appears quite clear (many people unaware it's tinted); great heat rejection (when parking outdoors, I don't bother with front windscreen foldable screens); SmartTAG works great; Garmin GPS signal reception seems ok, but might be problematic at times, didn't test it for long as my car has the iDrive Navigation.
2. Llumar (security film)- appears slightly darker than V-Kool Elite; great heat rejection; SmartTAG works great; Garmin GPS signal reception seems better than V-Kool Elite.
3. 3M - appears quite a bit darker than V-Kool Elite; poor heat rejection (had to blast the aircon at max when driving down the highway at noon), can feel the heat radiating through the windscreen quite noticeably; SmartTAG - did not test; Garmin GPS signal seems quite good, and better than V-Kool Elite.

Given a choice with a new untinted car, I would take LLumar for the security features, as it seems as good as V-Kool Elite plus it is a security film, and appears to have slightly better GPS signal reception (not an issue if using iDrive based GPS), and only drawback (or plus, depends on you), is that it appears slightly darker than V-Kool Elite (then again this could be due to the thickness of the security film). I wouldn't go for 3M based on my less than satisfactory experience over this past weekend driving a car with 3M tint.

I got mine done with V-Kool (K-27 - approved by the General Directorate of Traffic, Bahrain) 4 side windows & the back and yes i totally agree with NekoRacing that watching the removing of the old film process is really hurts especially the rear wind screen. Also while cleaning them, i was so scared that they will damage the heater/demister. Overall result, im happy. color match the car. K-27 is black instead of greenish.

My front windscreen is Llumar (clear) for RM 921.00 offer price.
V-Kool for RM 837.00

By the way, Im in Bahrain, Middle East (1st F1 for 2010 starts here)

V-Kool is using its established branding (more than 20 yrs) to price its products as premium brand. I think it is over-priced and you may be surprise that their cost of material is less than RM500 per car.
