HiHave been using Ecotint since 2004. Four years later, bubbles are forming between glass windows and film. It was a clean installation and no bubbles were found in the early years. Two window tints need to be changed. One is particularly bad with a diagonal streak across that makes it look like the glass is cracked (it isn't).Ecotint branch in Hartamas is quoting RM80 per window, which is too expensive. I won't pay more than RM50. RM30-RM40 is ideal range. So any recommendations on Ecotint or other films in PJ/KL is appreciated.what can be done by owner to minimise the film from detaching from window in years to come? The blazing tropical heat is unavoidable. Silicone spray will smoothen windows being wound up and down...would that also help somehow in minimising air bubbles?- ends -

how much you do for the whole car before and what model of tint that you are using.
If i'm not mistaken, today star did advertise new model of ecotint product for RM888 per car

thanks

Where did u do the tint in the first place? I suspect the window is not clean properly when applying the tint back in 2004.

Ecotint is quite a good tint, unless they didn't give u what u pay for.. and u should have at least 5 years warranty ma? And this is only less than 4 years old. If I were u, I will go back to the same shop to claim. If they refuse, go to the HQ and have them check the damage film. Maybe its not Ecotint in the first place.. :D

I never trusted any other brand except V-Kool. So far, very little complaint.

Even V-Kool also not every shop can do a good job. I would get the HQ at Sec19 to do for me rather than going for their reseller Tint Shop, unless its recommended.

Harbinger,

I'm also an ex Ecotint user. I fitted my e34 5 yrs ago after recommendation from a friend. Sad to say the money spent (i'd believe over rm700) was money down the drain. The heat resistant is pathetic. I can feel heat on the back of my palm near the windshield & also side windows. Not much difference from day one.

Only redeeming quality, is that I don't have the bubble & peeling problem in the 5 yrs of ownership. Mine was done in USJ Taipan Subang.

I'm not sure how much the Rike Cool tint I had on my e39 (comes with the car). If its comes fitted from AB from day one, it sure is still working in repelling heat with the back of the palm test. Especially better on the side windows. Oh yeah it should be 5 yrs old as well, since the car was reg'ed on 2003.

My advice, if budget permit, avoid Ecotint sub rm1k stuff at all cost. Unless the high end stuff. Sorry if I offended any ecotint users here.

Cheers.

80 bucks per window? Thats cheap dude....

I've got an annoying scratch on my VKool.... 1 window only..... inquired with VKool head office in PJ..... quoted 350 per window to replace.... cannot repair.... now thats OFFENSIVE!

Adoi!! That sounds fair, since you most likely spend around 2k for the entire package for better bulk discount. Guess, leave as is, and in time replacing whole package more better. rm350 can tint whole car for a others. :burnout:
