Engine Oil

It does take a few minutes before the oil level indicator gives you a reading. Not seconds.

Nope, my fan does not continue after a spirited run. When the keyfob is out, everything else shuts down. However, I can still wind up and down my window or fold the wing mirrors inwards without the keyfob.:eek:

Then, after about 4 or 5 more minutes, all electrical power cuts out.

Riki, so did u pay or free under Bsri? how do we check for oil quality?
I just went for the brake oil change or check. I doubt in this service, they change the black oil, filter. now after reading this very very long post, i wanna do black oil change...

No, they agreed to bring forward the oil change since the oil was already bad. The checking was quick.
They came back after 15 -20 min.

Actually I did not have a proper appointment since it was fully booked .
Just call the evening before and came early in the morning.

I think they would be willing to check oil quality whenever your car goes in for any check.

You, I'm not sure, but your car is! :D I think the majority never burn oil, or at most 1 pint between changes, like all other modern cars.

RIKI, it was quite good that AB brought forward your BSRI oil change by 10k then :top: The reality is that oil quality starts deteriorating from the moment you start the car after an oil change. Fully synthetic oil takes longer to oxidise and break down because it's more homogeneous, but it still does.

The 25k or 1 year service interval is more suited to normal consumers in the West, where cars are cheap and are just a throwaway form of transport. A 325i in the US is considered low end. And they buy oil from places like Walmarts. Car nuts like us should change oil every 10k or 6 mths regardless. :wink:

is this oil quality cheack machine available at ingress and sapura as well? my cbs cuts another 1k km after i came back from penang last week. based on the scheduled service inteval, the next oil change should be around 35k km or 1 year ( the first service is at 10k km )

based on current cbs, my next oil change is at 28k km, 7 k km earlier.

i agree...they used it for few years for a good trash...then replaced with new one

IF BMWs cost like Kancil, we also can trash around. But we are earning a 3rd World country salary with 4th World country car price. We should just sell off Perodua & Proton away and then we have a chance to drive a cheaper car

Yeah, it really sucks. :( While I was driving in the States a few weeks ago, I only saw one 325, and that was parked in a student's lot in a university! And I think their 325s have 3.0l engines if I'm not mistaken. All the rest I saw were 330s and 335s in suburbia. And yet their petrol is not much more expensive than ours.

Btw...just have a quick survey/check.. how much L/100km u r clocking now. I assume most of u are using Vpower n town driving right except for Schwepps?
For me, highest clock 16.4L/100km. NOw average 15.3....still ouch when schwepps gets 12.x

16.4L/100km? Wow! That's RM30/100km @ RM1.80/L, very bad guzzler la! Very bad jam meh? Wait! What RON type fuel u use? 95? 97? VPOwer? Very jam meh?

I have heard some switched to RON95, FC shoot up by 20%.. :eek: My 4-potter is on RON97 and now giving me 10.9L/100km @ avg speed of 48km/h, which is 21.58mpg(US), which sounds bad.. :(

Conversion table:
L/100 km = MPG(US)
4.0 = 58.805
4.5 = 52.271
5.0 = 47.044
5.5 = 42.767
6.0 = 39.203
6.5 = 36.188
7.0 = 33.603
7.5 = 31.363
8.0 = 29.403
8.5 = 27.673
9.0 = 26.136
9.5 = 24.760
10.0 = 23.522
10.5 = 22.402
11.0 = 21.384 (astroboy)
11.5 = 20.454
12.0 = 19.602
12.5 = 18.818 (Schwepps)
13.0 = 18.094
13.5 = 17.424
14.0 = 16.801
14.5 = 16.222
15.0 = 15.681
15.5 = 15.176 (Rachel)

.. and Rachel's FC is beyond the list.. :p Jia lat..

yes very Jialat. I m using Vpower. It was 16.4L for quite some time. Then Raya went to Seremban..like a long drive, went to 15.3. Should we always reset when going for a long drive?

Ya ya..all, pls put ur name beside the table..

Mine was reset lately for the S'pore F1 drive. That's why the avg speed still pretty high.. :p From Sg Besi till 2nd link, average speed that morning was 115kph.. :p

U don't need to reset the counter unless u want to measure something specific or suspect something not right. Like switching fuel, spirited drive, etc. Just like the resettable odometer, to measure specific distance for a trip. I suggest you reset the counter now and do your routine drive for a week to check the readings. Maybe when u went oversea, you maid climbed into your car and sleep in there with the aircond on while playing with your inflatable MSport seat with car stationary, that will affect your FC badly.

This is engine oil thread la.. we are pushing our luck here before the moderator come in here and fire! :p

17.7L/100km x 300km = 53.10L Your tank quite big wor.. :p 53.10L x RM2.25/L = RM119.50 per way to S'pore.. hehe :D

the tank is 70l, normally i fill up about 57l of V-power nia sked the tank seal old liau later leak...hehehe
