I have a 323i .. It is normal to top up the oil once it reaches 12000 to 15000km between oil change..my sensor detect that engine oil level start dropping after 12000km.. My 2009 car has already done 90000km .. So I have done quite a few engine oil top up.. Don't seem to have any problem and my last service at ab Glenmarie report all normal..

I think it would a better idea to reduce the oil change interval to 10,000km. In a bigger scheme of things, oil change will cost you peanuts in comparison to having engine issues related to insufficient/dirty/old oil.

My oil change is at 10,000km interval and I go to Ingress Auto even though the maintenance contract ended. At Ingress, they are using Petronas Oil. However with my "driving style", I do get the top up indicator come on before the oil change. So in such instance, I just use Torco oil (1 liter = RM55 at Quicksave USJ).

Haha, wolverine77, the RM55 is brother and sister price offered by Leon (boss of Quicksave) and it's definitely not his normal retail price. U may not be able to get that price when walk-in.

Anyhow, the RM85/L is recommended retail price and I've never seen shop selling that price because most other shop when walk-in, they sell Torco SR-x at below RM60. And if u've done enough research, this Torco is not even fully synthetic, that's why they can only call it 100% synthetic, otherwise they can be sued. It's a Group III oil with mineral mix, European calls it SemiSynyhetic. But we love the additive, engine feels very lively.

Actually I did some research earlier and supposedly Torco SR-5 is group IV/V oil. I also heard excellent feedback from everyone that uses Torco. It is also LL-01/04.

BTW, I need to top up 1 litre for every 6,000km. The curse of N52 engine but it is so worth it, hehe...
