bro dmens....whats ur mileage when u claim the engine?

hm...i cant quite remember...when i first sent it in for full engine test was about 34xxxkm i guess...should be around there. And sent in for the heart transplant was at 37xxxkm :top:

i hv similar problem. I regard this is a problem and annoying. Such high performing car required engine oil top up after 5~6k km - it is a out dated technology .. to me.

I suggest you lodge a report to BMW HQ, i am doing it as well.

what about recon car??? I just got mine for one week... still haven't tested yet...

Anyway, I have been told that there is no dip stick for the new N52 engine... is that true??? I have to send the car to be checked through its ECU to know the level of the engine oil... it's almost 1000km already and I want to take it back to the dealer's authorised mechanic to determine if the engine is problematic or not...

Sifu... anything at all will be appreciated!

the engine oil level can be checked via the i-drive...no need go dealer...

on the main menu page press the knob >> select service >> then select the tab oil level or something like that...u will see then the oil level...

I did exactly what you said... what even though it stated that "Engine oil level OK"
I still don't understand... because it didn't state the consumption level... and I don't understand what the green indicator at the bottom of Engine icon means... can you or anybody help me on this???

thule...why do u need the consumption level for engine oil?

the level is indicated by the green bar on the engine diagram...

I had this problem on my previous E46. It was due to the valve seal leaking

I dunno.. maybe it' because a lotof forumers here have problem with the new N52 engine???
I don't wanna drive for a few thousands km before the CCC ask me to top up one litre of engine oil... that's why!!!

Bro, valve seal leaking will result white smoke from the tail pipe.. and only happen to more than 7 years old car. The oil burn discussed here is no white smoke symptom, and brand new car with warranty.. :D

Update - Run in for 3000km and no sign of "missing" engine oil after the transplant. Just wanna ask bro out there whoever ever did the paperwork for diff engine number. I sent my car to Puspakom Bukit Maluri last week and they cant even find the wngine number. I rang AB and was told need to remove all the plastic engine cover in order to see the engine number. Puspakom was not keen to remove the engine cover and ask me to go back after removing the cover. And also the windscreen tinting did not pass the test and have to take off. zzzz....my huper optik just gone like tat.....nowadays can kau tim?? Just the tinting part. Its not so dark anyway....maybe certain angles are but anyway its only 40% visible according to the reader device and the passing rate is at least 60% visible. Advice anyone? I dun wanna rip my huper optik off just like tat....very expensive la...

dmens...

for the tinting...even if it does not look so dark but when two transparent mediums is put together with different refraction index, the visible-light will be deflected and this caused less light to be measured by the light intensity meter...

nowadays afta the puspakom scandal their cannot be 'kaotim' liau... :p

Hi Guys,
I am following up on my post earlier. Sorry that I have not been checking back after the engine block transplant. AB Segambut has finally completed the engine block transplant process back in July 2008. Engine has been running smoothly since then without needing an engine oil top up (previously, one was required every 3 months or so).

No paperwork was required for mine according to AB as it apparently does not affect the engine registration number. All the best to the rest who has to go thru this process. Be firm with them and bug them constantly once your car is in the workshop!

what i said was all my friends/clients/suppliers who i kena driving 5 series got the same problem as engine oil topup. not included you.

bmw never kau tim cust. they only trying to piss u off by lousy service. anyway no offense. just myself wont buy bmw anymore : i just got no enuff money to sue them til the end and yeah i gave up and save my$ to buy something else.

and somemore 5 series headlights also kena steam while raining!! and what bmw said? yeah it is normal!!! hahahahahha funny huh? it never happen to my japanese made and even other european made but the 5series. also one of my friend also have the same problem after few months he got his 523.

i dun even see this prob on Proton!! why paid so much for such car? yeah it is looking good and i still luv the good looking and those fancy technology but i wont buy bmw anymore after all those troubles i gone through.

no offense. just to those members who got the serious prob. fast fast trade it in ... they never fix it and they are not afraid of us making noise here. it just wont help.

No offense here, but I do find CKD units suffer poor quality control as compared to CBU models. Lucky that my CBU unit haven't had any problems arising just yet.

well, I couldn't agree more with what keeekeee said... my headlights do have fog once it rains... I don't know why but it will disappear after a while... what is the problem???

But then... my E60 Japan spec has no problem with the engine oil so far... been running for about 10k now... lucky me!!! I guess E60MSport is right... there's problem with CKD cars instead of CBU... which leads to the conclusion that our Malaysian assembly standard sucks man!!! :top:

How can we say Malaysia Boleh at this point??? :D
