Thanks dude. Lets hope i get a time to do this. Most of the time my car parked at home. :)

This might be unrelated but I have the same problem as well when I rev the car up. My mech did suspect a cracked manifold thus when you tend to rev the car up, spillage of your oil will sip out and the burning smell will come out. I changed the lining or whatnot before hoping that it would solve the issue but it did not. So, I just drive only la. You will also not see any oil dripping or anything because it will heat up and 'disappear' leaving no trace..... if it's a cheap fix, I would love to hear it as well...:)

still no luck n time on checking n solving this issue ... i need to outsource this task .... LOL

Hi guys,

May I know what's the standard setting for rpm at idling for E60 525M sport LCI? My current setting is at 750rpm, is that deemed on a high side cause if not mistaken, I briefly recalled it was used to be 600rpm. Thanks for any feedback you may share.

Getting rid of the smell from coming into the cabin do not solve the root of the problem. You need to know what causes the burning smell. Is it electrical burning smell or oil burning smell ?

Happened to my dad's E60 530i (M54) last time as well. Quite sure that it's got nothing to do with the air-cond or vents or anything like that. Reason being that when following kapcai or lori besar, no smell. Smell is at HIGH RPMS ONLY irregardless of the speed the car is travelling at. It's only MORE OBVIOUS with the aircond ON and also present with the air-cond off. Gradually, the smell came in earlier in the revs. Last before we parted ways with the car, 3.5k-4k also can smell already. Before that, 5-6k. Never knew the reason and source of the smell :stupid:

Sorry can't help but do take note, it got WORSE in my case and I could smell the burnt smell coming in earlier in the revs.

Updates: I changed valve gasket seals for the 2nd time in couple of months time as it was detected very small leaking. This leak is dripping to the exhaust header leading to unpleasant smoke. I had done it yesterday. So far i did not have the chance to really test the car. But what i feel it might be 90% resolved. Will test when going penang this weekend. Labour and parts to change RM 210. Now i wonder y was the earlier attempt on changing this was unsuccessful .... hmmm
