how should be a healty n52 2.5 engine oil cap residue look like? Mine year 2007 local ckd. This morning when i open up the oil cap i found black flakes like dried oil sorrounding the inner cap lips . Is this normal? From the hole I did look inside the engine head with torchlight and i found its clean with yellowish engine oil.

its normal bro, i have seen a few and all also got dried oil on the engine cap. if got brownish residue(like teh tarik, not bronze, bronze is normal) , then you should be worried as its water mixing with engine oil.

gimli, yup... it yellowish like bronze...

anyone could feedback below..

Did BOMIN jln Ipoh only sell parts or together they can install?
Although in Idrive show next service at 14000km, I'm planing for engine oil change + ATF change, could BOMIN do this? other in my mine is optimum, m speed usj or autobanh sunway...

btw milage clocked 102000km confirmed by wearner autohouse.

i recommend m-speed. Have recommended several people to m-speed and so far no complaints. Ah meng is a reasonable and friendly guy, not cocky and lansi like some of the other mechanics i have been to. plus got wifi and air-conditioned waiting room

I'm a regular m-speed & blue green customer with my previous car, but I also want to try others because I want to explore more options.

By the way guys... when search trough this forum most of forumes bought spare parts form BOMIN Auto. And I seldom see comment feedback for their work/ installation service... did they able to do this?

And I found many positive feedback for Optimum Ara Damansara... some people said their price slightly higher compare to others but satisfactory service.

Optimum is good. I have been using them for all my family cars...certainly reliable and if possible get to know Jason, the boss. He is willing to share. Only thing is he is always busy :)

Expert in e30 as well if anyone wants to restore your old BMW.

Am in the market looking for a 525i as well thus bumping into this thread. Sorry I dont have any input for the above question.

Went to UAG at Section 7, Shah Alam (near I-City). Mechanic's name is Jai, a Malay chap. Had a change of oil (castrol fully synth + original BMW filter) for less than RM400.00.

His advice was to change oil every 5,000 km, if possible. That is to avoid the black flakes inside the oil cap (carbon residue). This carbon residue might drop into the engine and could cause a major problem to the engine.

About the ATF, if can, he advised to change every 80,000 km.

5k km service interval is too fast for engine oil and 80k for atf is too long! I do 7.5k for fully synthetic oil and 30k for atf.
