Racing Oils

Was talking to a BMW specialist and he mentioned that instead of using the normal oil done by AB (I think is BP) ; try to use racing oils for improved performance. The entire oil change + filter etc...cost RM1,xxx.xx. Anyone has any experience in this and what is the best engine oil for our BMW ? Please do comment on this. Thanks !

Dont' fall into their tricks. Most sythentic oil will work just fine.

Best engine oil ? no such thing. Only regular oil change is the best.

:top: agreed. i think if you change your engine oil with any fully-syn with the correct viscosity every 8-10k KM, your engine will be very clean and last very long. i am not sure if you guys still remember the mobil 1 ads. in TV. it shows that the car using mobil 1 with 300,000KM on the clock (that is about 4 or 8 times distance around the world). they dismantle the engine after 300,000km and found virtually no wear & tear*. if you guys notice at the end of the ads, there is a small fine print below and if u read if quick enough before it change to colgate or nescafe, it says *based on 5000km oil change interval with mobil 1

if i remember correctly, its not advisable to use racing oils for our car cos in racing they change the engine after every race
just use recommended oil and change regularly and you'll be fine. sounds like ur mechanic is trying to make a fast buck. and while ur at it, change ur mechanic too.
