wind noise

My car just came out from workshop after the driver side door being replaced as a result of accident (Involved fender and driver door only). What happened is, significant hissing noise appeared when the speed hit 80km/h and above, and its getting louder as it goes! Thats very irritating I would say. Sent back the car to the workshop and got it back but the sound still there.

Anyone has any idea how to identify the problem? Closed up all the windows and off air cond (running on high way) to find out the source but the sound seems all way round the cabin. Hereby I seek advise from dear sifu here on this matter.

my less than a month f30 is having the same wind noise issue when accelerating thru 100 kmh.Discovered it on the second day of owning it when driving along the hiway.Went to AB glenmarie and had the car tested driven by the mechanic and according to him,its kind of normal for the f30.They changed the windshield clips by the way juz to see if the noise can be reduced but to no joy.Upon my request, they managed to let me seat on another 2 f30 driven by them and to my dissapoinment, both of the cars have the wind noise at exactly the same speed of approx 100kmh.i lost of words n had to accept that as design issue but am still sure that bmw can still do somethin to resolve the issue if they want.Wisely speaking, the wind noise at 100kmh is simply not acceptable, wht more to beemer.Am seeking to anyone out there who maybe knows what the solutions are as am willing to spend on my own to resolve the issue...I believe that bmw will not take much action as it is not a safety related issue n perhaps most owners have accepted it as defaulted design, thence no more complain.I however believe it can be solved,so pls anyone who cud help me out jug to get rid of the stupid wind noise..thnks

Crank the volume of your stereo up or change your exhaust to one that emits a chest thumping growl.. confirm no wind noise. :)

I've owned my F30 a little over a year now. I hardly hear any wind-noise anymore. Don't worry guys, you'll get used to it

After over a year I don't notice it anymore unless I try. The tyres are not that noisy anymore either. These are the two areas I found pronounced initially, but non issue now as I enjoy the sweet juicy engine, every time.

hahaha tru bro mizhan, even the infamous diesel engine clutter aso almost no existent now...ahahha...i'm immune to it

wind, diesel clatter & tyre noise were very pronounced compared to the 10-yr-old E46 I was driving previously. BMW's were certainly better engineered in the past..

mizhan.. saw ur previous 330i.. new owner a nice chap.. took out the B8 and put in Titans...

yes, I was very happy to have met Edward. I couldn't have asked for a better person to take over my beloved E46. Now with Titans, i'm sure he is having a wonderful time with it.

better engineering was proven expensive too perhaps...now they do smart engineering...cost down

En mizhan, when u said that u hardly hear the wind noise after owning f30 over a year...does it mean that the noise has always been there even from the beginning and it still is now, and its just that u have already used to it and take it as no issue or rather something you can live with..Am hoping i could react the same but its just about a month of driving the machine,so i dun think i can take it too well..

To new owners of f30 out there,if anybody doesn't experience the wind cutting noise when accelerating through 100kmh and beyond, please kindly let me know because i wanna verify that this wind cutting noise is designed issue to all the f30s as claimed by BMW..if any of the owners do not experience this, then we could share the info and I could argue wif BMW about the fact that this wind cutting noise does not happens to all f30s and they better do something about fixing those affected cars..Thank you

My F30 can easily hear wind noise. I noticed it since I test drove it (Both F30 & F10) before I bought my car. The wind noise in F30 is pretty bad while F10 has perform better in that.

Wind noise for my f30 also but I am used to it now. F10 has better sound insulation compared to f30 rightfully.

Yup the wind noise is really really irritating for a marque brand - kinda still getting used to it after more than a year

Cheerz
