RFT Tires Bulge

The GY RFT has all the test reports and certifications and meets all international standards on RFT tyres before they can be sold in the market and put in as oem for BMW cars. I think it's not going to be easy to prove manufacturing defect unless you have solid evidence.

It is very frustrating when we bought a car then to only find that the one of the most important part of the vehicle which is our tire have bulging. Our road condition have gone from bad to what I dunno. This plus those who always "korek" our jalan and then never patch up properly. They know how to "korek" but always done a lousy job patching it up. I guess if those responsible to 'korek' have to ensure they patch up properly or kena saman, I think our road would not be that bad. More info I got on tire bulging..

One more thing, if only our insurance can cover this, but I guess it's not worth to let go of the NCB then. Anybody know if our insurance cover this or not? I guess for those who started their insurance without NCB can claim if the tire cost outweight the NCB, if we can.

Yeah yeah....are you Good Year in disguise LOL ....trying to justify other tires also affected. We are talking specifically about F30 and GY. Please provide your findings on non GY and F30 having the same problems and I will believe you.

Hi Manu. Well, I am not representing Goodyear or any tire manufacturer. Just that I was looking and talking about this coz my Uncle from Singapore owns a BMW and all this while he had been using it there. Few months back he went to KL for wedding event. When he came back to Singapore he noticed a bulge on his front right tire when he want to wash his car. FYI, he is using Bridgestone RF and he never encounter such problem before. Nway, he bought a replacement tire because it his mileage was 20K plus. I am interested because I am wondering why RunFlat should developed bulge? Thought that it should be stronger than ordinary tires.

its lucky that we detect it earlier or when the car not moving...guess what happen if you and family or friends travel (maybe sometimes at high speed) and the tire explode? BMW and GY should recall and replace all the tires before fatal accident happen due to this issue

You wait long long. GY will not recall their tyres unless there's prove of manufacturing defect. The cost implication is simply too great. BMW definitely is not going to do it as the tyre is GY's. Do you think BMW would replace the tyre when they are so reluctant to replace their own rusted seat frames? Again wait long long.

I m going to lodge a complaint to the consumer affairs and tribunals. Anyone else willing to do so? I think this is getting out of hand with the number of complaints, it cannot be a case of f30 drivers are bad drivers going into pot holes of all the time. I do not think its a question of manufacturing defect but poor quality gyres that are not suitable for f30 and for Malaysia. Do we hear of other non F30 having as many of such bulging? Anyone knows?

i also will support you,
Went to Goodyear factory on Tuesday and tire checked by engineer, quote by that engineer there's a 3 line scratches proved that i hit the pot holes and cause the tire bulging...and my reply to him if that 3cm long scratches cause the tire bulging then you have a very very serious reliability issue.

I have the same problem. AB KL arranged an appointment for the Goodyear technician to inspect the tyre yesterday. Same technique from Goodyear, the technicians claimed there are scratches on the surface and it was caused by external. Therefore, Goodyear will not provide any warranty!

My mileage is only 12,000km and less than 7 months.

Dear all, I suggest that all of us lodge individually to the consumer trade affairs as well as tribunal within the next week. Let's name Auto Bavaria (or whichever dealer), BMW Malaysia and Good Year Malaysia as the respondents. We have nothing to lose anyway except dor some time spent. You can lodge online so it's not too difficult.

Can any brothers advise if you have change to another brand of RFT and you have not encountered any problems with bulging?

Yup wonder how we should care for these RFTs. Cannot even take some slight knocks. I never had this problem with my Conti RFT in my e90 for 5 years.

Can report online? What's the link? Count me in if wanna lodge report sama-sama. Else, I'm OK to do it individually too.

another victim of GY RFT problem
