I have been running on GY RFT for 50k km now and so far no issue. My advise to all who is running on GY RFT to ensure proper tyre inflation and be careful on the road to avoid all potholes whether big or small.

Yes, sure you are right. The GY RFT wouldn't burst itself witthout hitting nothing.

BUT...compare to other RFT brand it is more easily to burst only!!!

We do not buy cars and the tires that come with them so that we can baby the the car on the roads. Constantly avoiding potholes, can be tiring and dangerous in some cases.

Responses provided by Goodyear is utter crap. Your money is better spent elsewhere, avoid GY RFTs.

Jason :D

Haven't had any experience with their RFTs, but on my previous ride I tried out the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, and got two sidewall punctures (different tyres) in the space of a year.

No such thing on my previous 2 sets of Michelins, or the set of Michelins after I got rid of the Goodyears.

Call it bad luck or timing, but I have avoided Goodyear tires ever since.

i noticed all mentioned about good year RFTs....but any1 had problems with the Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFT?? coz im having one and i dont see any others with the Pirelli's RFT... am i the 1st case?? steering is behaving in a weird way...called AB in tun ismail, they said some defect on the wheel or the tyre...they havent gt the parts yet but will call up for warranty replacemnt...stuff cmg from germany...i duno if this is somekind of a call up for the new batch f30's fitted with the pirellis...

Hi Ganesh,

my ride comes with Pirelli Cinturato too but so far (almost a year) no problem with tire bulging.

Pirelli is one of the tyre suppliers for BMW. So far I did not hear of any problem with Pirelli RFT.

just discovered a bulge on GY RFT, 7000+km. 18" on E84 X1. no cuts, no visible damages near the bulge.

anyone had any success getting a replacement from BMW? or should we just collect all the bulgy chewy loops and toss them at their HQ?

I think go for option 2. I don't think anyone successfully claim from GY. BMW will just push the blame to GY.

Hi razibar, thanx for the info....was in KL last weekend...sent the car to AB KL, had to leave the car there for 1 day for the warranty steering rack replacement.. Luckily they gave me a 116i to go around until the next day...good service...collected the car the next day, car was fine. Steering feels good...doesn't have that wobbly ride anymore...just the tyre only.. The SA took pic of the bulged front right tyre.. Said will send it to Pirelli malaysia.. Still waiting for their answer...

Hey guys I just got this issue. Had low tyre pressure warning (BMW 328imsport 2014) half way on the mex highway back from the airport.

Drove slower as recommended by the idrive. When I reached tun razak there was bad vibration coming from the tire. Stopped at the petrol station literally opposite AB tun razak and found the right sided front tyre to be deflated and metal threading coming out. Tried putting abit of air into it and a small bulge popped up so I deflated it abit. Not sure if there's a hole in the tyre it's 2am Sunday morning and the worse time for this to happen. Could this be a fault in the tyre? I mean run flats should be able to withstand 90km or something right regardless if it's a puncture or not. What should I do? The car is only 3 weeks old. I can't recall what brand the tyre is, it is not GY maybe pirelli or intercons. Forgot to check. I left the car at a friends place 5 mins away from AB tun razak.

Will call the Salesguy for help or should I take another course of action?

Here's a pic. Tyre is gone for sure

Ah didn't think it was 24 hours. Will call tomorrow

Seems like Pirelli (confirmed from the picture) tyre oso having this type of bulge issue apart from GY. Anyone experience the same for other brands ?

Bro Velarous. Please do keep us updated on the outcome of your case with BMW. I am sure many BMW owners who are on RFTs are concern about this. I hope you manage to claim it back from BMW or the tyre manufacturer. Best of luck to you.

Had an AB mechanic look at it.
He said he'll lodge a report with Pirelli - their dealer in PJ (it's some licensed reseller and main HQ is in singapore)

Pirelli replied that the metal threading damage shown in the picture is result from a puncture thus No warranty claim. I haven't had time to figure out what to do yet.

Just seems like a con job. RFT shouldn't easily get this damage from a mere puncture. Car is only technically 2 months old. Registered in June.

Will update more tomorrow.

Damn looks like anything to do w tire issue, we are on our own. Tire OEM and dealer like playing football between them.
