Mind to share under what condition that causes your car's tyre to burst? Seldom hear about passenger's car tyre bursting, it could be a defect in the tyre or really harsh condition. I thought RFT is meant to prevent tyre from bursting?

take a right hand corner about 60 kmh with 3 adults + 2 childrens + 2 big luggage...

my f30 just went to into a poth hole. passenger side front and rear tyre developed a bulge. Shit !!!
Should I change to non rft tyres all 4? Mine are currently Goodyear rfts

am having the same question running thru my head ie normal or RFTs.
wanted to change to normal one last weekend but decided to hold on.
after a bit more thinking, am oriented to RFT but certainly not GY just based on the numerous complains here - as well as my personal experience.

I understand the car is designed with RFT. So, you may experience some compromise on car handling if you switch to non RFT tyres. However, the cost saving from non RFT tyres may outweighs the improvement in handling from RFT tyres.

i put a status 'RFT tire bulde' in BMW Malaysia facebook and received a call from BMW Malaysia, had a conversation with him and also forward a technical report from GY. I asked him did BMW Malaysia receive any complaint from F30 owner about this issue and he said no, im the first person complaint about this. I told him a lot of owner have same problem with me as we've been discuss in this forum but he reply all that is bloggers dont trust them.

Yeah right. They always say either never heard if before or yours is first case.

yeah they are notorious for that. Even when I complained about my rusted seat frame that fellow said its the first time he getting such complain. So don't trust them

I changed all 4 into non rift and threw in a original bmw spare tyre into the boot. Slight compromise in boot space. But I'm happy with the handling and are more quieter.

I changed to Michelin PS3 with higher load rate '91Y' as rate '91' can stand up to 615kg each tire...615kg X 4 = 2460kg and F30 328 unladen weight is 1530kg and permitted load is 550kg (as in the spec) but we might load more than that.

In order to roughly determine the load capacity for each individual tire, take the vehicle’s gross weight and divide by four. If the vehicle gross weight is 2100kg each tire should be able to safely support at least 525kg.

I have written multiple letters to BMW, auto Bavaria and good year and all they say is that it's no fault of the tires. Yeeah right no complaints my As... So many have complaint about GY RFT yet they absolved all complaints. Lets just spread the word and boycott their tires

Did you changed all four? I changed back to GY RFT when I got mine replaced as the workshop guy told me its not recommended to switch only 1 to other brand due to tyre thread design. Would like to hear forumers' opinions.

After months of driving my F30, I noticed that the RFTs tend to lose air quickly and it is more severe for the front wheels compared to the rear. The pressure on all four needs to be checked from 3 to 4 weeks. My other cars running on normal tyres doesn't need that frequent pressure adjustment. Do you all experience the same?

Guys, what's your RFT tyre pressure settings? I have 300kpa (44psi) for my rear tyres and 250kpa (36psi) for the front. This is the recommended settings that I got from the sticker at the driver door sill. Personally, I find this too bumpy and I intend to lower down the pressure. What's your setting?

I think you're following the recommended pressure for fully loaded car bro, hence the higher pressure at the rear. Most of the time I'm driving alone, so I set my car to 255~260kpa on all four. It should be OK since BMW cars have a 50:50 weight distribution. Not sure if I'm doing it right, just sharing my view.

Hi guys, been a little confused bout the tire pressure. My buddy who has the 2012 f30 and mine a 2013 f30 has different pressure settings recommended at the door sticker. Attached is the image from both our cars. Both our tire ratings are 225/45 R18 91Y, and his states 220 front and 240 rear, and mine states 200 front and 220 front. Wonder if there's any difference for the models regarding the tire pressure.
