I've just gone to see Quill about this matter. Tan from service centre did say quite a few customers have come in with this problem and it appears to be with Goodyear and not other makes. I've written 3 times to them so far. After the first time, they only took some pics and as expected, said it's external impact. Despite the rim and tyre wall near the bulge area being in perfect condition. I said, look at the number of complaints. Even if it's external impact, why does it seem like only Goodyear is facing this problem with so many customers? I think the more people come out and speak up about this, the quicker BMW Malaysia will be compelled to act and instruct for a recall. We buy BMWs not to drive them slow, they should not be so nonchalant about their customers safety. So far, they are offering a 25% discount for a new tyre. What an insult. You go outside and immediately get 25% off for the same tyre. So, in actual fact, only someone's undeserved commission is being cut here. And they are owning up to causing only a quarter of the problem.... hahaha... Still pursuing the matter...
Just a quick update.

In January this year, my 3rd GY RFT blew. That was the last straw.

Wrote to GY and they said they would pick up the tyre but never did.

Last week, I bantai them on their FB page.

Over the last few days, they have been contacting me hoping to 'resolve this matter' - corporate speak for shut the noisy bugger up.

This morning, they called up and put me on speaker phone *very serious oredi.

They wanted to offer me 'goodwill compensation' - a discount on future purchases.

I rejected the offer.

I told them even if they gave me free tyres I will reject the offer because this issue is not just about me.

Many customers have this problem.

I said they should engage the BMW Club forum as many members have this issue and BMW Malaysia too.

So if everyone in this club who has had this problem go and collectively complain, I think we should all be able to get this 'goodwill compensation'.

To get a discount for future purchases collectively I think is the minimum acceptable response from them.

So they have now retreated to discuss what to do next.

If you guys wanna get some payback for the grief you have gone thru, go post on their wall here.

Torpedo, GY tyres are well known for this problem, before I collect my car in Jan, the SA confirmed to me that my car will not be GY anymore as they have received numerous complaints about the same issue. I think you should ask for complete refund instead of other means of compensation. My car is currently using Bridgestone RFT tyres. After 2500km of run,so far so good.

Do we have a count of GY RFT bulge case to date on f30?

Care to list down for those whom were affected? And did you get compensation in any manner from BMW or distributor or Goodyear Msia or own pocket? This might help those still on OEM GY RFT to prepare for the worst (including myself)

1. Name; date diagnosed; mileage; problem description (keep it short), compensation yes/no, BMW msia/distributor/Goodyear/own pocket

What is the verdict or best service center. I m sure Glenmarie will come rock bottlm. Really pissed of the SA, got my new car today but regretted getting it frm them. I wanted to list his name but nvm lar , dont want to tarnish. Today i took the car, decline any briefing and just drove off. Pls sufggest me an alternative SC

Doesn't matter the SA now that you are in the phase of ownership. As long as you Kam Cheng with the service advisors and mechanics, they have far more value to your ownership down the road. You can always pick and choose your next purchase from any of the dealer network around, and corresponding SA as well.

Generally all dealers will do a good job selling you the car by promising the sun and the moon but its the opposite when its time to service or claim warranty. So far after pushing my case to relevant parties, I am happy that the dealer is solving the issues I raised to them and they are also rectifying the problems they caused to my car too. I'll give my final verdict once I have my car back from them.
