i dont think its a manufacturing defect. it could be that BMW drivers are more aggressive? haha.

i dont have any issues with both 328i tyres. most likely driver's fault.

Our poor road condition is also to be blamed. In this rainy season, potholes are everywhere. Slow down and be careful

Report is in.... apparently its due to external impact. There is a small scratch mark and therefore not claimable under warranty. Moral of the story is that the Goodyear RFTs has been made softer so that its more comfortable at the expense of durability and reliability. I'll have to think about replacements now - back to Goodyear RFT, another brand's RFT or non-RFT (Michelin PSS? :burnout:).
Jason

My advice would be not to replace with GY RFTs opt instead for either Michelin or Bridgestone. BS tend to be of have a harder compound on their RFTs compared Michelin. If road noise if a huge factor in your selection, it's my experience that it is diffucult to beat the Michelin compounds.......having said all that this is level 5 evidence (personal observation). Happy motoring :burnout:

My stock GY tyre just got a relatively small bulge when i was driving 60km/h and hit a mild pothole.. Send to bmw for inspection and they said it its ok but i should change it for safety purposes.. Get 2nd opinion from a tyre shop in kota damansara, still getting the same opinion.. They all said that only GY rft got this infamous issue..

I am not sure if it is possible for new BMW owners to specify what tyre brand to go on their car before taking delivery. If possible avoid GY for now until they sorted out the reliability issue.

My 328i only 5000km need to change one tyre today due the bulge..will avoid GY RFT at all cost next time.

328i CBU. I think all CBUs were geared with stock GY (made in germany).
What about SKDs? Can anyone clarify?
320i stock tyre is BS Potenza with no issue afaik...

bro hazim..is it you selling at mudah?

With such a high rate of complaints, it would be manufacturing problem or bad design problem, I think all those with problems should get together and collectively get GY to do something.

My F30 SKD also come with GY RFT. Think all of us must drive with extra caution on Malaysia's road.

Since the bulge rediculous incident i will inspect my tyre front n back everytime after i went on any pothole, manhole, blackhole hahaha...

The bulge still not swollen big enough to compromise the daily drive.

I wonder how they select tyre for every region? They used different stock tyre brand for RFTs.

For instance 17" - Pirelli CintuRatu, Bridgestone Potenza, Continental Sport Contact 5
And for 18" - Pirelli CintuRatu, Bridgestone Potenza, Goodyear Efficient Grip, Continental Sport Contact 5

I believe bmw engineers did tested the tyres thoroughly and recommended those brands.

err how long should we suppose to change the rft tire particularly this goodyear rft? any expiry date?

How long the tyre will last depends on how you drive your car and also how you maintain your tyre, regular check on tyre pressure, balancing, alignment, etc. I think tyre comes with the month and year of manufacturing but no expiry date.

For normal tyres, the recommendation is no more than 5 years from the date of manufacture, I presume RFTs are the same

I think its a business decision not to go with single brand tyres as to avoid problems like stock shortage or product defect. It's just too risky to go with one brand for worldwide. How I wish we could have the Continental branded RFT. Are year 2013 F30s getting something different?
