You mean PSS cheaper than PS3? Sure or not? Some more PSS only got 18 - 21 inch size.

I guess the pricing by our local dealers are haywire but I called up to ask, most of them do not have 19" now - no stock :( I think the new batch will have correct pricing with PSS being more expensive than PS3.

PS3 prices are absurb now. 225/40R18 was about RM690 last year. Now its approaching RM900!! Better get F1 Asy.

I'm not sure if I would ever trust Goodyear anymore. Those Eagle F1 I had are just plain crap and I also heard Assymetric 2 is coming soon.

Bridgestone Potenza RE001 non RFTs-I changed mine for MR540 a piece-17 inches size. I believe all tyres of the top 3 marques-Bridge,Michellin,Conti are the same-all the noise they make is marketing-bull! The main thing is don't debate so much-go out there and get fresh tyres and don't be silly to blow a hole in your wallet. Tyres are the best investment you could make for your car-not that set Brembo ceramic brakes that cost a house!...its a good fresh set of new affordable tyres...!

RE001 is good tyre. Using for my Civic's 17's.

I'm using Toyo T1-R for my staggered 17's. Dry condition excellent, wet condition water pan quite seriously.

Agreed with you that tires are the most important element as that is the only medium between the car and the tarmac.

Over the years we have tried RE001, PS3, Pirelli Zero Rosso, Eagle F1 Assym, CSC3 and last week the CSC5 with the same car in Sepang. I am sold on the CSC5, very progressive and performance on the dry and wet is simply amazing.

Each specific brand has their strength to differentiate themself from other competitors. Continental emphasize more on safety and as such they claim their tires have the shortest stopping distance in the dry and wet. Michelin would be more on the dry grip and etc.....

I know Conti tyres don't fare very well in our hot climate. They alwys develop a small crack line on the inner side of their tyres. Seen them on my previous CSC2 tyres and on random inspection for other trade in Conti tyres at tyre shops. What's the price for 17" CSC5s? (225/45/17) now?

same was found on CSC3s on my M...wheels are 08 and still have good tread life!

yet to run in my PSS though...

Got the PS3 just before the price increase, RM565 per peice, made in Thailand.

Manufacture 1211.

The ride now is so soft, quiet, comfortable even I pumped 39psi all round, pumped more air, last longer :) I expect to change tyres again 50000 - 60000 kms later.

Quick-Save is the dealer for Nexen..A cheaper alternative tyre.

Quicksave is situated close to my area. My brother went to him for advice and bought Yokohama Advan ?? (can't remember the model now) in 2009. Mr Loke said it was as good as the MichelinPS2 and superior to the ContiSportC3. They turned out to be the worst matched tyres for his car! They did not want the tyres back so my brother lost money by getting MichelinPS2 from Sunway which was obviously much better. We won't be going back there again.

I just changed all 4 pieces of my tyres to Continental Sport Contact 5P. So far so good and need more time to test it out. Damage is RM6,300 for all 4 tyres including balancing and alignment.

i am using Michelin Pilot Sport 3 size 225 45 17 on my mk5 golf gti, covered 21k km, bought in september 2010. RM540/piece.
current price now is over rm700/piece! blame the rubber price increase

it has superb wet grip, but after 21k km i notice that the tire noise is much louder. i think lasting up to 50k km is a little on the impossible side, i don't know how gentle your driving is though.

CSC5 and PSS are not available for 17". these two are a level above PS3.

Im using Falken 912, average price RM1100/piece, already done 22000 km yet still approx. 65% thread left, good in both wet and dry, comparable with my previous Bridgestone RFT RE050

Now price is around 620 for PS3, 225/45/17.

This tyre is very quiet and comfortable.

I travel 90% highway and 10% city, so 50000 - 60000 km should be achievable.

Just changed 4 pcs PSS size 245x40x18 at rm1350/pc.

The ride is quite good & it is claimed to be able to achieve higher mileage compare to PS2.
