The E90 doesn't come with a water temp gauge. It uses warning lights (Yellow and Red) to warn you when your car starts overheating. You can get more details in your manual.

Then how do we know if our engine has reach normal operating temp? Not important meh? :stupid:

Another interesting German technology like the "LifeTime" lubricant.. :top:

Astro, I know what you mean abt the temp gauge. A work around that I read some where (though I still think that they shld hv given us the temp gauge) is do an oil level check. If you can get a reading, chances are the engine oil has reached a sufficient warmed up stage.

For the E46, we were fooled by the german engineers as the temp gauge did not give a accurate reading past the middle temp gauge mark. BMW engineers knew that the demographics of BMW owners and how particular they are with fluctuations of the temp and decided to peg the gauge to the mid mark upon warmup even if the temp is actually higher. The needle will then quickly shoot past the mid mark when it exceeds a certain heat threshold and hence you'll always see the needle swing past middle to red very quickly without hanging around 3/4 mark of the gauge.

In the E90, the decided not to fool us drivers anymore. The gauge (for those available) will actually fluctuate based on driving and engine conditions. The E92 has the gauge in place of the fuel economy meter. I prefer the economy meter to be honest.

Interesting.. but I rather stick to avoiding harsh driving for the 1st 5min.. so if u want to overtake me, do it within the 1st 5min.. :D

Yes, E46Fanatic, thanks for sharing... I had similar experience in my E36.... no 3/4 temperature. Its either 1/2 or RED!!

It actually makes it difficult for mod-ding car because things like pot and polish will cause temperature to raise. No gauge how to monitor? Susah.. :stupid:

errr...how you reset RFT?

First make sure the car is on a level ground. Then go through the On Board Computer via display on the meter cluster. Scroll through the menu until u find a picture of a tyre with a big exclamation "i" mark in the middle. Then push a button to "RESET".

Then drive away and the On Board Computer will synchonise the wheels revolution as a benchmark. Any drop in tyre pressure cause by puncture will reduce the diameter of the wheel and give high variance in revolution against other wheels and the computer takes this as a sign of puncture, thus illuminate the tyre warning lights.

Clever use of ABS sensor!

I thought buy changih car make life easy here it looks the opposite. It looks i am better of with my E28 just put in yr key start and drive, and it still can kick ass.

Redbaron has a point. I find the tyre pressure resets a pain each time the pressures are adjusted. Its needed cos of the RFTs as likely u wont know if you had a flat otherwise with the RFTs.

Maybe RFTs are a passing thing and we'd go back to conventional air filled tyres with repair kits in the future. M cars are not shod with RFTs either.

Under normal circumstances, there's no need to reset kua..

Anyway, its a bullet proof tyre meaning if people fires at u, penetrating bullets won't limb your UDM.. :D

Sound like such UDM more suitable being used in the war zone.. :D

I felt stressful too the past few days because today I am using my MPV to work and its a breeze to drive. No need to slow down on humps, no worry of people bump me or I bump people, hitting pot holes also no rasa, simply park at isolated areas also no worry of car jack.. :D Low maintenance, cheap spare parts, good FC... even the steering on the 14" 185 is a lot lighter than the UDM.. :D Can perform my usual drop gear maneuvers by using the O/D switch... different kind of FUN!

:) Hello 2008 ! ! !

Living in Malaysia, I cant see what the pleasure in driving a Bimmer is if you're going to be conservative. Liberate yourselves. If not for yourselves, do it for your car !

"Oh No!!! That big dumb pigeon has crapped on my windscreen". "Argghhhh! some motorcyclist has chinked my wing mirror" ! ! ! :p Tough!

I take some pride in the fact that i use my 3'er under all circumstances without letting minor annoyances get in the way of enjoying the drive. After all, Bimmers arent referred to as UDMs to be languished over and hidden at home.... They were built as reliable daily drivers :)

Just my thoughts.

so much worry this n tat :( hopefully few weeks later will be better :p

I know! let it settle in through time! After all, I have 60k km of repair warranty wat.. :D Apa mau takut?

Still new la... first scratch is the hardest to swallow. Pretty soon they will be 2nd and 3rd scratch... then no rasa lio.. :D

Give me some time to realign my thoughts.. :D

my first dink: dad open door then bam, whack my CONCRETE pillar... so concrete vs. door, concrete win. there goes the first scratch!!!

thanks. Being driving it for 2 month now and i have no idea that i need to do this. heck i dont even check yet my tire pressure yet:eek: so busy on work commitment. alot of gizmo and i dont have time to play with it. but the adaptive cornering light and the automated highbeam is pretty cool and it is work amazingly. but still i cant get the parking light work:rolleyes:
