oh no... my E90 320 is slower than Polo 1.2

I have personally never went up against any 320d before although I saw a few in my company. I wonder how fast is their acceleration time from 0-100km!

But one thing for sure, I test drove the Golf GTi and also the latest Golf 1.4 TFSI and although the 1.4 is a wonder for such a small engine, the smooth gradual speed build-up can never compare to the raw kick-in power of the GTi.
 
Everyone has their preference, if power/kick is top of your list. GTI, Subaru is better... Even a 325 won't kick like that, it's just that you will be driving fast without knowing it, so smooth.

Since when power is all of the fun of driving pleasure? To me, straight line is only a part of my driving pleasure. When you negotiate with corners, B roads, interchange, that's brings me most of the fun. You can afford to step on your pedal in the corners, also using it to offset your nose dive a bit if the suspension is too soft, swtiching lanes especially from outside to inside with your RWD, 50:50 machine so~ effortless, especially on a E90 320i!

Again, it's to me only, nothing is more fun then going into a interchange or conrer later but overtaking, then pull away at the exit. Or with some one who purposely stick inches behind me when entering corners/interchange but can't see them in the rear view mirror when I flat my pedal at the exit. So, I still love my 6.5yrs old stock 325i very much!:rock:

Your E90 320i handling is much better compare with an E46. I have driven my friend's E90320i, I have tested carefully a 323i.(325 M sport is different, so can't compare) Even stock suspension also very good liao. Enjoy it if it's in your list. (BTW, going to test a 320d when I have chance)

Afterall, every car just like every person, has their strength & weaknesses. Embrace it.:wink:
 
yes yes..... i love my car for sure.... but i would definitely love him more if the car has more power.... hehe:)

Then get the Golf 1.4 TSI. It will leave the 320 standing!:wink:
 
Still remember the days a friend fitted a 2.0 VTEC into a Civic Mayat 3rd Gen, NA somemore, bonnet need to cut to clear the cam cover.. can do wheel spin all the way up to 3rd gear.. I can imaging the Polo 1.2 should have the same kick.

So Polo 1.2 vs Golf 1.4, which one menang?!

Dunno when Polo will have 660 TSI, then it really gives our Kancil a run for their money.. haha! And if there are BMW 3 series owner crazy enough to switch, then they really not ready to drive a BMW.. speechless..

Putting up a Polo 1.2 vs an E90 320 is like racing to bukit bintang on a Friday evening, car vs motorbike. Motorbike reach faster, cheaper to run also, sell the car and ride motorbike la.. :stupid:

Don't understand all the interest in the Polo and Golf. Isn't that a step down from even the 318i? Leave the boy racer days behind guys. You have kids already, and boy racers would call you uncle now :)

:top::top::top: .. if I want to talk abt polo...I'll take my horsie to play Polo and put the Golf in my E60 and find a nice 18 hole course and have fun :biggrin:
 
i owned a GTi MkII in the States as a student. had loads of fun with it. i still prefer a hot hatch over entry level BMW's..

Looking at any VW particularly Polo and Golf will definitely make one fall in love at first sight..but BMW still rules...

CLARIFICATION:

I would like to make some clarification about E90 320i is slower than Polo1.2.

I understand that there are many VWs sales rep have been quoting and showing this thread to their potential customer to convince them that Polo is better than E90.

Let me clarify that in terms of acceleration, Polo 1.2 will take the lead at the beginning, but once the speed hits 80km/h, the E90 will go faster than Polo1.2 and I am sure Polo will never be able to go near to E90. Potential Polo buyer, please take note that E90 and Polo is 2 different car. We should compare durian to durian. You won't take an apple to compare against a D24. Another example is you won't compare a modified Wira against a Polo. It is 2 different class.

E90 is a 4 door saloon with 50/50 weight distribution and it is a FR. Polo is a 4 door mini hatch car without 50/50 weight distribution. E90 is weights much heavier than a Polo. More importantly, E90 is a NA compared to Polo which is turbo charged. In terms of handling and top speed, no way a Polo can come close to E90. Like I said before, compare durian to durian. In this case, it is comparing a apple (polo) to durian (E90).

BMW is well known as a Ultimate Driving Machine... since when we hear people comment that Polo is a UDM?

So for VW sales rep, please be ethical in conducting your sales, don't mislead your potential customers. Please show this post to your potential Polo customers.... if you are a ethical sales rep...
