Thank you Iceman 13.

Took the car to a mech, suspect the flywheel gasket too..:42: Have asked a friend in KL to get parts quotes for E36 service kits - Engine, Flywheel & Transmission.

will post the quotes here to compare..

Tried DIY on the rattling dash last nite. Concluded that i have to change it. - The bracket for the glove compartment has broken. Can't live with the rattling dash.. if i can, would have bought a saga long ago... hehehe..

Bro InitialM,

Will meet definately.. Need a brother to guide around. New in JB, Origin KL.

Thank you all. Appreciate it.:top:

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and hoping that all of my elder brothers could advice me on rebuilding my E36. We just bought ourselves a bargain 95' 325 last Friday as my wife & i wanted to do this as our family project. Hopefully she doesn't scream when she see the bills. I have not checked the car throughly but here are the list of problems i have encountered so far:

Undercarriage
1. Steering Cover and Bush - Both sides
2. Lower Arm Bush - Both sides
3. Tie Rod End - Both sides
4. Engine Oil Sump Leaking
5. Gear Box Oil Sump Leaking
6. Holes in the exhaust pipes
7. Axle Oil needs replacing
8. Absorbers - All 4.

Exterior
1. Front Grill - Patah
2. Door Handle - Driver Side
3. Bodywork (Left side - Side skirt pecah, Front bonnet dented) & New Paint Job
4. All rubbers for the windows and doors

Engine Bay
1. Fuse Box Cover
2. Bonnet Cover
3. Relay for signal light - (Kaki relay dah patah)

Interior
1. OBC Display - What is the cost of one OBC unit from a Kedai Potong?
2. Air Cond Dial Panel - Can i convert using the digital from 328 model?
3. Rattling Glove Box
4. Carpets
5. Fuel gauge - sometimes it doesn't work.
6. Meter lighting (temp gauge) - gelap

From the OBC
The OBC shows the following checks:
1. Coolant Level
2. Brake Circuit
3. Washer Level

Issues:

1. The previous owner changed the coolant and engine oil before handing over the car to me. when i check, both (Washer & Coolant) are at the marked level. What's the issue here actually? is it the sensors?

2. The warning lights for the tranny went on every time i floored the throttle. After restarting the engine it will disappear. This happens everytime i floored the throttle. The warning light doesn't appear under normal driving conditions. What is the issue here? Is it the pressure regulator or because of the tranny oil leak?

I'm putting aside around 12k to rebuild the car to run in acceptable condition. Do you all think it is enough? The car is a bargain due to its condition. Also hoping that you all can recommend to me a few good and decent priced "kedai potong", part shops and mechanic in KL & JB.

Hoping to hear your comments and replies.

Hi there Haqim, welcome to the world of UDMs & also to the forum. Remember, try to focus on fixing the major issues 1st, the rest especially the aesthetics of your car can always wait. You need to settle all the issues with the undercarriage & the engine bay, then move towards the rest. Look around for bargain parts & trust me, you will come across quite a number of items. If it's a bargain, go for it coz there are many items which are already rare & difficult to find. Come join up whenever you're in KL, you need the help of friends to keep you going:top:

I started on the same journey as you to restore my ride a few years ago and my exterior still looks the same:D

Hi Climenta,

Thank you for the advise. I have the same intentions as well. Mechanical 1st and later moving towards the aesthetics. Have been in contact with InitialM and he has recommended a few workshop in JB - Thanks Bro. You've been really helpful.

Will be heading out to the specialist over the weekend to get the car diagnose especially the tranny. Need to have the feel on which item to work on first.

Where do you guys usually hangout in KL? It'll be great making new friends.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Hi All,

Under recommendation from a fellow member, i finally sent my ride to BM Auto Garage in Permas Jaya, Johor last Saturday. A distance from where i'm staying. Small setup but clean. 8 out of 10 for hospitality.

Exterior - Last
1. All rubbers (windows, doors)
2. Bodyworks
3. Paint Job (Alpine white if budget permits, if not i settle for BMW white)

Duration: 1 month.

Downpayment: 10K

Also, changed 2 brand new tires last saturday. Toyo C1S 225/40/18 for RM 620 a piece at a tyre shop opposite Balai Bomba Larkin. High comparing to the tyre price list in the forum.
