My starter motor got screwed because of the bad crank sensor (above), I suspect. I went to a famous "bmw specialist" in segambut (shop name starts with z ;)). He told me it was my fly wheel that needed changing. I told him it must be the starter. The next day he called and said it is the stater motor. He then charged me 400 for a second hand starter motor (readily available for less than 250) then 450 for labor. I asked why so much for labor? He said he had to adjust my flywheel. I appealed to his sense of justice, but he insisted. And some still claim that most mechanics are not crooks! hahaha

Starter motor --------------- RM400
Labor ------------------------- RM450

Guess birds of a feather really flock together then. I've had an unpleasant experience with an equally unscrupulous and irresponsible BMW "specialist" within the vicinity too. I think many others will share my sentiment.

Happened to me few years ago and overhauled the gearbox straight away.
Works fine until today

Lozo & V Man...where should I send her, to gearbox specialist or just normal workshop? Thanks bros...

To any bmw specialist would do. There is a overhaul kit available for the gearboxes (gaskets, clutch discs, etc..)

Some say better to change to Jatco box, non repairable but easy and cheaper to get from chop shop..but since mine is GM 4 speed, have to find complete set (box, ecu, wiring) to convert, right?Wonder about the ratios...what about ZF box?
