I always source my own parts and the saving is a lot. Got to know a new shop last week when i visited a RoadShow at Paramount Garden, PJ. The shop name is Global Parts Specialist S/B and i got the their contact no: 03-78773755. Look for Ah Boon , he is very helpful.

Thanks.. Will compare the prices with Bavarian Auto.

My first ever bill on my new old UDM, all done today:

From Bavarian Auto:
BMW Front Bonnet Plaque - RM 53
Back windscreen Strip Cover - RM 120 (top and sides)

Done in Mspeed:
Castrol Full Synthetic 4L and oil filter - RM 220
Air Filter (old one broken into pieces) - RM 50

Also did a thorough undercarriage and engine check some things noted that needs to be refreshed:

Oil Sump Gasket (leaking black oil)
Petrol Filter (wear and tear)
Fuel Pump
Inner Ball Joint
Outer Ball Joint
Most/all bushes
Link Rod
Side Rod
Engine Mounting
Fan Belts
Accelerator Cable
Air Hose
Water Pump
Thermostat
F & R Absorbers set (Boge)

Was quoted approximately RM 5000 +- for all the above. Thing is, they quoted RM 1600+ just for the Boger absorbers. I've check with BA and the whole set cost about RM 1000 so the workmanship itself cost RM 600? I thought that is a little steep.

I've actually went to another place to check on 2nd quote. Anyone with any comments on the above?

Bro,

Is this the one with the plastic impeller?

would anyone be interested in parts from america? I have this diagnostic computer here that you hook up to the ecu and it reads the fault codes and basically tells you whats going on with the engine and a couple of other parts as well. ive used it on my e36 and it works like a charm. I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in such a device. also the e36 has a problem with cooling. I was wondering how you guys deal with it? i mean do you guys all just put in performance radiators or what or do something else.

to koryong: where abouts are you located mate? coz you dun wanna run all the way to sunway for a fix up when youre in hartamas or something like that you know.

help! e36 318i AFM problem

hi all,

I've been driving my e36 around for a few months now and I loved every second of it. Then it happened.

just 2 days ago, my car suddenly started dying on me at traffic stops and yesterday it got so bad that it dies when the car is in motion. Today's the worst, the car won't even start now.

took the car to BMW specialist shop yesterday and he said that that the problem was with the AFM (Air Flow Meter). he said that i could still drive but there'll be intermittent breakdowns. I'm like "wt...."

I'm a car idiot so if anybody out there would be so kind as to advise me on:
1. where i can buy (or if anybody reading has) a AFM. 318i, 97' M43
2. is it truly an AFM problem? could it be a hole in the tubing?

i'm a car idiot, really hope you guys can advise...
