Bro,

I think you've done most of the things that needs to be done on an e36 (Fingers crossed). Look at it this way, think of it as a heavy initial investment and peace of mind later as you've changed everything thats needed to be changed. ;)

rear brake pads (Jurid) - RM120/pair
install M-tech spring pads (15mm) for rear - labor only.
spring pads bought in SG. Quite pricey.

Rear axle inner bushings also bought. to be installed later. 2 day job.

Work done on 1 July 2006 at Chu Seng Auto Repairs, Jln P Ramlee, Penang:

Parts:
Rear wheel bearings (LHS only): RM105

Labour:
Remove and replace left rear wheel bearings: RM80
Pumping in wheel bearings: RM40

Jeez man, the above labour is already more than the price of the part, but really plenty of hassle just to get to the left rear bearings... sat there for 3 hours just to observe.

Other things done:
Fixing Teflon tape on the inside perimeters of the 4 doors: RM80 (including the tape) The Teflon tape has a BMW part no. on it, supposed to be a recommended fix for some squeaks, and it really worked.
Glued back a dropped off centre rear view mirror and work on a squeaking clutch pedal: RM40.

LCP,
can u pls tell me more about the teflon tape tht will solve the squeeking sound thanks ..

Vincent,

The Teflon tape looks like a typical cellotape or the thin type double-sided tape, and it is sticky on one side only (like cellotape). Width of tape is about 1cm. Diameter of each reel is maybe 10-15cm, taping all 4 doors did not even use up much of a reel. The non-sticky side has a very smooth feeling, which led me to suspect that it's Teflon

That shop tore off part of the BMW part no. on the plastic wrap of the tape, so I can't tell much... you might wanna try your regular parts shop in Klang Valley (eg. Bavarian Auto) to ask for the tape. I'm sure they have it.

Apparently, this is a recommended fix by BMW, not only for E36, but also for E46. My car is quieter after putting the tape although I can't quite figured out what were the noise that went away. When the shop boss drove my car out for test drive (for the rear bearings repair), he kept on saying something about body panel squeaks, pointing to the doors, saying that I must try the tape.

Anyone know if the glovebox door can be fixed? Mine senget already since one of the latch is broken.
