Vinson,

Somehow, my car feels better after running on the track.

It sounds sweeter, zinging in full song when i pull. Even the tires sound quieter and smoother, probaby because I scrubbed 'em clean and smooth. The wear was nice and even this time, showing that my setup is better now.

And car feels light and very eager to pull.

Mostly, am extremely pleased that the engine note is now sweeter.

Remarkably good value for money then, if this is what track day does to my car. No RM280 mod or gadget can provide the same effect.

Anybody has the same experience?

Hey Lee38674231908420....

I have an almost similar situation with my tires. Surprisingly, my tires a a little quieter. I wonder why... Pretty odd and can't explain this cause generally it should be louder.

I think one of the most valuable lessons learned is the braking and handling. I now know my brakes have to be applied early otherwise I'll run off the track. Handing was learned through taking the various corners and seeing how the car is balanced.

I have to sugges that for the more experienced guys we ought to time our runs. Sepang is so long and wide and even doing multiple laps we don't know if our performance is improving. I must admit there is a handful of opportunities to have relatively cleans laps to get some good lap times. Next time around we need to get someone to time the runs.

Yup, track day does actually help with de-carbonize your engine. Improve brake feel & such. Its a very control events & lots of people here do get it. They rather drive recklessly on the street & endanger others than go to track for their speed fix.

Albundy also felt the same results for his engine.

The tires are quieter because the surface is now even. As mentioned before, Sepang is easy on tire wear.

MY engine now sounds more crispy and definitely lighter, guess all the carbon deposits were cleaned up on the way to Sepang!! :D

My feedback on the event :-

1) Lunch was good
2) Track Control was good initially before it ran haywire, some cars that were not supposed to be on the track were on the track.
3) Overtaking when they are not supposed to, and yes there were instructors with these ppl, maybe the instructor got instructed! :D (agreed with osflanker that they have to do a fine balancing act)
4) Allocation of track time between the groups were a little skewed. Groups 1&2 had relatively more track time than the rest.

Yes this was certainly a good event.
Would like to say thanks to HPC for hosting and organizing this event. I'm sure as they get more of these events things will run smoother.

The schedule was a little off but I'm sure this can be worked on.

Driving the E30 there was exciting. The car's brakes are certainly not up to par for such an track. And those of you that were on turn 9 during the open track session noticed me facing your cars  Really wished the brakes would not fade so quickly. During the open track session my threshold braking was maxed out and I had to continue trail braking. And on this turn it was too difficult which lead to my spin out. Saw Zoggee and the other guys pass me.
Stock e30 brakes suck big time. Remedy=E32 brake pump and master cylinder. :D

Good idea to do lap time. OSF has a stop watch that we can use for next event.

few questions

why the EVOs, Lotus can go out at any time?

When i went out, they were there, when i taxi ride in group 3 , they were there.

Pretty keen to know what is under the bonnet of the VIOS. very loud ... fast also.

that's what I have always asked for....why drive in circles and not know what you are doing rite or wrong? testing is expensive...opps, I mean driving!

strap a stopwatch and time yourself - that's a remedy for now. I think renting a transponder is a bit pricey now....

first outing was fine.. did 5 laps without any drama.. until the second outing..damn.. need to warm up the tyres in the first lap..
hehehe.. did a flying lap did i ?

it was fun....!!! :yahoo: I had fun..!!! :yahoo: I really whack my car...got a few vids.will try to load it up.

:)

Zoggee, many thanks for your helmet. It made it possible for my brother to experience his first track day. Appreciate it. And following your yellow fellow was interesting, esp watching it twitch the tail a few times on the slippery rainy track.

I was sad...I wanted to try drifting.. but a few intructors warned me not to... boo... hoo..
