Hey KennyG,

Nothing comes out of the link. Any guesses?
Would like to see picts cause if any... please post more.

Jules,

I think you should ask R3 to squeeze out more hp our of those cars. All of them in that run group seems to be a weebit slow. Them guys would hold me back on the turns. and their cornering isn't that great... I guess due to the inferior tires. And interestingly, a few of them tend to go off track... I wonder why? Maybe these drivers think that since its a race prepped car, the cars should perform like race cars... but 2 key components of the car are the achilies heal (brakes & tires).

Well, I have to admit this HPC event is more organized and certainly more exciting. My lap session was reduced due to my own fault with the cap and some chump in a R3 messing up the session time.
GUYS driving the R3... PLEASE STAY OFF THE FREAKING GRAVEL.

Forgive them, not all of them can drive as good as u mah.. ;)
For the R3 cars, every lap is a learning experience building up to the 10 mins paced run...

RedZ4...thanks for the ride in ur Z4. But too smooth for me. I like it raw....hehe...

Cheers

my dear REDZ4..

it's my second time driving in a race prepared R3, first was a S14 with 350hps which was a handfull, as for the R3, it takes time to drive a front wheel car, to understand the braking points, lines, how the car reacts.. totally different from your normal car, since i too was trying to understand how the car behaved for the first 3 laps.. i had a bad car that day.. really bad..

btw, did you have the chance to drive the car ? if not, then you wont know how the car handled..imagine no brake servo... :)

excellent day out! btw, what're the specs of the r3 cars?

Standar engine 1.6....with a little of handling set up secrets. I was told by Ah Fai. I love the set up.:)

I was tailing Ah Fai with my Starlet. Was surprised by how he slides the R3 at turn 12 to 13.....

RedZ4 n Pussy,

I have to agree with Puss that being cautious is the safer bet in learning on other people's car. Even then you could see they were not easy to handle hence some of the off road exursion. Try driving my 6 speed shifter in Shah Alam and I am sure, 99% of you will exercise caution and be slow for the first time.

In regards to brakes - yes they are unassisted ie. no servos and these are typical race car format. The cars have ALCON brakes by the way.

Important is safety and the R3 program is to allow u experience a race prep car - NOT make u a race driver.

I tried the link, it works. Can you retry.

Hey where are all the photos of the event?
I remember seeing some girl with a digital SLR going around snapping picts... I think she's part of the organizing team. Anyone know how I can get picts?

Thanks.

Well, you chose the car. So blame yourself la KNNCCB!  :p

Should have taken the 1.8 R3 more powderful! :p :) :D

darn, i missed out this thread...

Thanks to osflanker for the guidance... I just need to discipline myself more, and push a bit harder, don't think I was near my car's limits yet at the corners... nice meeting all you guys there... will try to make it again for the July session, and will take more useful photos...

My little pocket rocket stood up well although I need to do something about the brake fluid... pedal was lower for 2nd and 3rd sessions, but brake bite was still there... pedal feel only returned to normal the following day on my way back to Penang. Now hafta search this strange island for Motul DOT5.1 fluids...

That's my sister. We have abt 350 pics, and need to sort it out first. We will publish it at the HPC website soon.

Will give you a heads up on this.
