powerblow, if ur gonna use the car PURELY for tracking, get the DC5. more mods, better tuning potential (its raced around the world, so the tuning knowledge and parts are available out there), and cheaper on the wear and tear like brakes, etc. the VTEC lump is very reliable and u dont have to deal with the usual turbo wear and tear problems.

if u want a "weekend warrior" car, which u can also take to the club, to work on monday, picking up chicks on ladies nite, and that long distance trip to penang for char kuey teow, get the fiat coupe. it's a great all rounder, and the best high speed car available at that price. a stock coop will do 250 without much fuss. that yellow mintex coop will hit 270-280 and brake back to 0 before u can even get that first scream out of ur throat.

an un-registered Y2001 (last production yr) coupe can be had for around RM140k. a used y2001 can be had for around RM100k or less. a stock coupe will also give a stock DC5 a run for the money on the track. its simply a better all-round car. go for the final iteration - the 20-Valve Turbo Plus with the 6-speed 'box.

the coop engine and gearbox are bulletproof. but some of the wear & tear parts like water hoses, etc are a bit hard to find, which is where italia auto comes in. lots of parts hounds in the club so u shd be in good hands. normal wear and tear parts like oil filter, timing belt, brakes, tires, etc are not an issue. but being a turbo and italian, its got a bit of a drinking problem.

at any rate, ur welcome to IA anytime. u dont have to have an italian to join us. i was driving a mazda when i first joined IA.

cheers!

Dang, someone trying to convert JPB into getting a Coop :nyehehe: :nyehehe:

I drove one of those coops before and I agreed with the tagline, "Poor man's Ferrari" :D

p/s: any prob/issue by getting a 2nd hand sways? any parts i shud look out for in particular?
just look out for the condition of the bushes and the linkages....

As for the bar itself, there shouldn't be any problem unless the car was involved in a very bad accident which could cos the bar to go out of shape.. But normally the bushes would be a goner before the impact gets to the bar itself...

For Sgd250 its a steal. GET IT!! :D
Just check that the linkages & bushes are ok & fit properly.

I think the event has come and gone.... Time to move on....

New thread would be started for future track day....
