If you frequently playing with the launch control for drag race, chances of multiple failure is big. Even the clutch plate cannot be spared.
 
hahahahahaa....heard that once but dunno how to play launch control. better dont teach me. ekekekkeee..
 
anyone has changed clutch set before? just wanna get rough idea what would it cost...search function in the forum not working..
 
hello, smg forks, does anyone know where i can get a working actuator pump(smg pump) to test. Any workshop that willing to help to check that out? I check almost everything in my car, but still having Stuttering when the car get warm, and i had some burn clutch smell when this happen.

Hi everyone, i've been reading everything on this post regardng SMG and i remember one of the pose saying, if you are buying a SMG, it's best to bring a mechanic who knows about SMG or bring an owner who's driving a SMG to give opinion.

I'm looking at 1 beautiful and 'looks' well maintained SMG 2002, 325 clocking about 106,000km. It's a penang plate own by a malay lady. This car looks stunning and I am seriously considering getting this beauty, but then again, are they any good, nice and kind Samaritan out there who can give me their advice and time to test drive the car?

i think it's best if you could bring the car to a workshop for plug in and scan. i plan to bring mine for maintenance soon, if you want we can set a mutually convenience time and date so we can meet at the workshop (i service mine at optimum kg kayu ara). mind u i can't offer much of an advise other than telling you it's a normal sound of smg gearshift. pm or sms/call me @ 0192545281 we can take this offline.
 
afazlee...long time not following thread...hows ur smg doing? when u meant normal smg shifting, can we meet and test both of our car to see the silimarity...

quite honestly, i started to feel uncomfortable feeeling to hear those clicking sound..especially if its been add up with a 'guukkk' sound as well..

hahahahahaa..but never regret...smg is awesome when you are a floor pedalled kind of person..

It's best if i could bring the car out, but the car is currently at Cheras Bt 12.. kind of far and the road tax is expired.. any other options?
 
Hi, i have a 325ci smg 2004
3 months ago i have to change the pump because they died.
Last sunday the car display an error of the smg while i was driving on the highway, the 5 gear was blocked, i couldnt change any gear and the speed limit of the car was 80 km/h
20 or 30 km later the smg reactivates and i could change only the gears 1 2 3 N and R

the car actually is in the workshop and the mechanic told me that the SMG ECU was damaged.... i think that the workshop have not idea about the problem, because workshop go to easily change parts

Do you have any experience with this erros? in my city there are no expecialist about the SMG

Have you check your SMG reservoir ... it could be that you're low on hydraulic fluids or it could even be empty due to a leaking clutch actuator. If it's still full then most probably it's your SMG pump is dying and needs replacing ... Check this thread for the part number .. Good luck! :top:

I have read somewhere, 4F72 is actually clutch actuator error.

Not sure if that is a good hint or not :).

have experience this before...agreed with b33mer that you should check on the reservoir first.

previously i have encountered this kind of problem 4F72 went to troubleshoot together with the mech...what we did was..using Gt1:
1. calibration-failed
2. check reservoir - seems ok. so whats the problem....
3. we tried to see if any there is any luck to run calibration again but with different approach. first to tell the smg that we flush the reervoir...and gt1 will ask u to fill up...
4. calibrate
5. teach in
6. done

i dont know what happen because its seems that no visible leak on my system. but if the mech mentioned its something to do with the smg control unit make sure that you have no leak first. and try the above.

mine works fine for 2 months now after the above problem appear.

refer to early post in this thread ( i think its somewhere on page 5 or 6...b33mer has posted some useful info on repairing the actuator but i doubt that there is workshop willing to do the job - changing a seal.
 
hi, i called my workshop and comment your instructions.

he is only thinking on the pump and ecu, because when open the door the pump dont charge

My workshop told me that: the pump must work withouth hidraulic fluid, i think he was an error

someone know that the pump works without hidraulic fluid?
