Yup, go have a look around.
You get a Golf GTi for RM200k with dealer warranty, brand new and current model with proper documentation.
Not like some parallel importers with Labuan AP's and etc and underdeclared tax. Im not 100% sure but i think the customs can still come and seize your car after you've purchased it even 1 or 2 years down the road.
RM200k will not get you a current model Evo IX or STi v9. Will get you maybe a 2003 or 2002 350z but 2004 ones are around RM220k unless something's up.
A friend's Golf GTi with stage 2 mods(Filter, exhaust, re-chip etc) was doing 300whp.
300whp for a little front wheel drive hatch with the quick shifting DSG gearbox is plenty if you ask me.
He gave me a hell of a run in his Golf and me in a 472awhp 34 GTR. I even had Tein HA coilovers and him just Eibach springs and standard shocks.
Everytime a bend would come, he would just dissapear. Cant say the same for the straights but the car handles really well.
Essentially, i think it comes down to the preference of the buyer and his needs.
The Golf is a great all rounder and practical performance car. Try driving a 350-400whp Evo or STi to work everyday and you start looking at the Golf under a different light being able to offer all that power and practicality together.
Unless of course you're loaded and then cars like the Maserati Quattroporte or Cayenne Turbo is no problem..
Even the Audi A4 2.0t is quite a fast car.. With the Multitronic CVT, it really gives the impression of speed/power.
Anyhow, i think that the Golf is an awesome car and in comparison with the 120i and Mini Cooper, it really blows them away.
But to compare it with cars like the Evo and Sti which are parallel imported and cost heaps more for the current model than the dealer imported brand new warrantied Golf isn't fair.
Here's the picture after the above said run. You can still see the grin on his face.
