Lancer 2.0 GT Value for money, go and sit in it only may you fall in love with it....Nappa leather as standard and only at 115k in Sept its going to be 122k.....

Guys....if you read between the lines....this woman wants a SMART car.

If that is so....got for the SMARTforTWO. Then she can go for SMART CAr TT a Aman Suria sitted next to Traveler at BMWClub TT.

Ok she tembak me the other day... she says she will pick the car based on looks, provided everything else about the car is acceptable. So based on looks, she essentially prioritized the cars:

1. Peugeot 207cc
2. VW CrossPolo
3. Smart Roadster
4. Civic
5. Lancer

She says she can't stand the look of the Mini, and that the 1-series is out of her price range (but if she could afford it, it would probably tie for first choice along with the 207cc).

So this weekend will be test driving the Mini, 1-series, Lancer, possibly the 207cc (if can get the appointment, there's only 1 unit available and it's not even a test drive unit). She's trying to reach a Smart dealer for the Roadster.

So I guess for some people, looks matter a lot more than HP, torque, brakes, ABS, airbags, leather vs fabric, etc....

bro i have an option for a lady driver ...why don't she go for an SUV

1) honda CRV ---about rm150 K
2) Toyota harrier 2.4 ..panaromic roof

being a lady i think with an SUV you can load up the car with all the shopping bags ... and also need not worry much of road bullies ..... and those who snatch handbags while waiting at traffic lights ....

Yeah I suggested SUV, and she say she does like the look of the Harrier, but after that she go and complain that SUV is biglah, hard to parklah, drink minyaklah, etc. etc..

I figured after that, I better shut up :)

I am however quite vocal on the safety aspects of whatever car she is buying as she is a very dear friend. So I am insisting that any car she buys must have ABS, multiple airbags, security film tinting and any other reasonably priced safety feature/optional accessory. Those items I berani tembak balik. All the others, I keep quiet. Except for the comment that if she wants a drebar from time to time, she must get nice car, otherwise she can be my drebar :D

usually during the initial few weeks and so they will definately have some tough time to get used to the SUV ... but once they are immune and adjusted ... they will never look back for a SEDAN...

that's what they always say ....

As for minyak the 2.4 VVTI is quite impressive ... non of a fuel guzzler ... unless you are looking for the 3 liter.

seen lotsa ladies these day prefer the heli ... with panaromic roof ... kindda kewl

So my friend test drove and saw a few cars over the weekend...

1. Lancer 2.0GT
Bumpy ride due to the sports suspension. She said the engine sounded strained when she drove up the little hill on Lorong Maarof heading up to BSC. She concluded that the car was underpowered. The engine was noticeably loud when going uphill, louder than I expected, leading me to agree with her somewhat, although since I didn't drive the car, I can't be 100% sure.

2. Naza 206 as a stand-in for Peugeot 207cc; to get the Peugeot "feel"
The 1.4L engine was very underpowered, had a difficult time going up road to BSC. She wasn't impressed at all.

3. Peugeot 207cc (test drive not available)
The trim level was a huge step up from the Naza 206. Much more luxurious. Car looks good, but there is concern that the 120hp 1.6L engine is underpowered relative to the car's 1466kg kerb weight. She thinks there are too many buttons to control the aircond/ICE/etc. (We saw the 407 earlier, and the 407 had like 2-3x as many buttons!). Btw, for anyone who is interested, the 207cc model we saw had a built-in GPS navigation system, but the ones to be imported are not supposed to have one. 30 cars have been booked, with about 20 coming in the first batch (estimated arrival end of this month/sometime in Aug). She still likes the look the best, and have decided to wait for the cars to arrive so she can test drive one, as she is really concerned that the car is underpowered.

4. Mini One
She doesn't like the look but when she drove it, she said the car handled quite well. She said it felt underpowered (1.4L) but it was definitely more powerful than the Naza 206. Interior trim was nice and a level above the Naza 206, although the 207cc's trim was nicer.

5. 118i
Once she drove it, she loved it! Power was great, handling great, trim was very nice, etc. Basically the only issue for her was the price. She did wonder if she would find the 116i to be unacceptably underpowered, but there was no 116i available to test.

6. Polo GTI
Didn't get to test drive as a prospective customer test drove the car earlier in the day and decided to see if the Polo was tougher than a 1-ton lorry.

Based on looks alone, she would buy the 207cc. However there is concern it is underpowered, hence she will wait for the test drive. Looks aside, she prefers the 1-series with the Mini close behind (I knew she would kena poison once she test-drove them, haha! :top:). She is now willing to consider low-mileage demo/pre-reg models for the 1-series or the Mini, if the price is right.

So now we wait for a 207cc test drive, before a final decision is made between the 3 cars.

sorry to say this.....French cars looks sexy and very nice to me.....but has no power esp those they sell here. Yes, this is from personal experience.

Good luck Traveller, as you need this - from the sound of your lady friend! :)

Peugeot 407 CKD by Nasim
133,888
7 airbags
JBL 240w 10 speakers hi-fi stereo
auto Xenon lights with auto leveling
Integrated GPS
Leather interior
ABS EBD EBA ESP DSC

SUPER SEXY LOOK

Before test driving the UDM - "I am not interested, it's too expensive" and "I won't consider a used car, only new"

After test driving the UDM - "It's so nice... how much is it? How much is the pre-reg or pre-owned car?"

After driving a UDM, the Civic 2.0 not even on the list to be considered anymore... only continental cars being considered at this point. Peugeot 207cc vs 116i/118i vs Mini One/Cooper as the primary choices, with a budget alternative - VW CrossPolo.

I think all UDM test drives should come with a financial health warning: Caution! Test driving a BMW can be hazardous to your wallet! :D

I have tried the Cross Polo recently, was considering it as a third car.

But the interior is much smaller than the 1 series and driving wise, it was a decent car but in no terms come close to the 1 series.

Of all the cars mentioned here, the 118i is a clear winner, of course the selling price is also the clear winner :)

Cheers

Wah Traveler, you are the man-lah! Hope she chooses you after she has found her car!!!!!

Good luck to you!

patience is virtue.. hehehe got great "side" benefits :D especially if it involved the other gender *cabut*

After test drives of the Mini One, Mini Cooper and Polo GTI, the choices have been narrowed to 3 cars:

1. Mini One
2. Mini Cooper
3. Peugeot 207cc - to be test driven when cars arrive in M'sia (supposedly at month-end)

Obviously the Cooper is more powerful than the One, RM20k more powerful :) which moves it out of my friend's budget range. So unless there is a decent pre-reg unit, it's likely to be the One vs the 207cc. Since acceleration appears to be similar (based on specs), it all boils down to the feel during the test drive. She's already happy with the One's handling, so it's now a waiting game for the ship that's bringing the 207cc to make it to our shores....

Btw, the test drive of the Polo GTI didn't impress her. The engine was powerful for the car's size, no doubt, but it was noisy, and the interior trim was a notch lower than the Mini and Peugeot.

Good point. Especially the pedal shifter behind the steering. Watching Jeremy Clarkson flipping gears every week on Top Gear, even my wife found it cool now.

After reading the above in your earlier posting - Very Farnee how the final three came with 2 Minis - I wonder how she changed her mind?!

Traveller - one piece of advise when it comes to further trying to get your lady "friend".

BEST TO ASK HER GET THE FRENCH CAR otherwise she will haunt you each time the Mini coughs.

TRUST ME. In end, its her money, her ride and HER IMAGE. Unless u r more than a "friend-lar":listen:

GOOD LUCK!
