Im not sure if this is the new golf mark 6?? saw in a magazine by the name of ''Scirocco'' but its not an exact carry over of Golf GTi since it has a lighter engine, wider and longer wheelbase thus better traction then Golf Gti MKV..better looking too...God i wish i will have one of this....

hi vks,

having second thoughts or wat? :top:

There have been news about VW speeding up the development for the Mk 6 as the Mk 5 is expensive to produce.. Mk 6 would be designed to be less expensive to make...

VW got it right with the Mk 5, the Mk 4 was nowhere hot as a hothatch shud be. The Mk 5 turned things around for VW... Perhaps they have overdone the R&D for the Mk 5, making it expensive to make.. Hence the need for a 'cheaper' Mk 6..

cheaper Mk 6!! sounds very very interesting...

btw its just an ordinary man's wish bro sach....cant afford 3rd car at the mo...:top:

Cheaper to make... doesn't mean they'll sell it cheaper... :D

but it looks lass tame, no problem as long as they make the gti a lot more wilder, for r32 i rather buy a bmw 3er

I just went car shopping yesterday, was comparing between the cooper s and Gti. Gti anytime!
Mini is cute and bubbly but.. not a single space for my golf bag. Space wise is teribble..Gotta put the seat down, so in my opinion, I would rather take swift if it's in this case. it's cheap. from the maintenance to mods. can have fun a lil here and there.

Like for me, I would go for Gti. There's enough space, it's turbo. The look isn't too bad.. it's quite a car. Not so eye-catchy too. It all boils down to what you want.. it's a total different league..

Unless you would like to have my 525. Heh. Thinkin of selling it. :)

'The look isn't too bad'!!! What??? Its got killer garang looks as well as...put a lady behind the steering....it'll look damn sexy too....i meant the car.

ahahahaha. Yea, okay, it looked real good actually. ahahahaha. that car would probably look better with me behind the wheels. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOLLOL LOL

i see that everyone is only comparing the performance and fun factor on these two cars(Gti & Swift Sport)...what about safety factors??

well, is the decision made?

like many said - the cars mentioned are in different league....so you cannot compare.

if you like to have more additional cash leftover in your pocket......and really like the driving rather than posing part of owning a car.....get a Proton Neo R3 in white...ha ha. I do think R3 did a good job.

Good luck.

Fuel consumption for Jazz is so low! Though I don't know bout the Vtec..

My bro's i-dsi 1.5 saves fuel like crazy! He was away so I was happily driving his car away. Full tank of RM50 (that's because I was driving it before the fuel price hike) and seriously it can pushed till 400km! Which makes only 13 sen per km! and the car is already like 3 years old now.

I like the Cooper S too but then it's a little noisy in the cabin and therefore I prefer the GTI because it is powerful and has got a wonderful feeling when you drive it. The GTI's back seats are also quite comfortable and it is certainly more practical than the Cooper. But then the Mini is a classic car and has a low depreciation.

polo gti

now that the price has dropped to rm99,999 a pop, i suppose everyone here will be making a beeline to the nearest vw car showroom?

still thinking about it.. the new Polo will be out next year with the GTi version slated to get the 1.4TSi engine and 7speed DSG.so need to carefully consider..

all that said tho,i think the curent Polo GTi is indeed the true replacement for the original Golf GTi..simplicity in it's truest form plus being small and lightweight is what the original GTi was all about.with a possible 225bhp with a simple remap and some choice bolt-ons,it is tempting..

argghhh...the agony of choice!!!

ah, but the price of the new polo will no doubt be a lot higher than RM100k?...
the engine is quite easily tuneable, but my only hesitation is whether the rest of the current car is up to it? most reviews (have to rely on them for now, as haven't had the chance for extensive test drive) comment that the polo platform is not one of the better ones around...

this car is extremely good value for money, if considering that in the same price bracket are honda jazz and suzuki swift sport, non of which comes close in terms of performance...

yup,my guess is the new Polo GTi will indeed carry a hefty pricetag..TSi engine and 7speed DSG,just these two items will jack up the price sky high.

i've actually gone to VW but was told that all 40 units that was offered for rm99,999 was sold out..at that price, its good value but i told them that now, they'll have a big headache in shifting all those 'normal' price ones.cuz honestly,i don't think many will take the chance in buying what is essentially an 'almost' out of date model what with the new Polo due out next year, well,at least not one that is priced at rm139k.

chassis wise, like u said, not many comprehensive tests done on the handling traits of a tuned Polo GTi..so its kinda iffy la.

The stock Polo GTi is only slightly faster than my E30 on Sepang.. hehe... It was only able to inch up on me on the 2 straights... Polo GTi 150hp turbo vs E30 318is 140hp NA..
