The first time i test drove the car, i had three sleepless night and the fourth day i just had to bring along my cheque book and sign on the dotted line to place my deposit. Why the 2/3 years wait then?
I was actually recommended by my friend to test drive the car which i said to him "what the hell, a car like that cost rm200k!" After much persuasion from him, i eventually went to menara UOA for a test drive. The moment i went into the showroom, my wife gave me that look :stupid:"u seriously want to test that car?". And guess what, as i step on the gas, she was the first to be impressed.

2 of my friends actually kena poisoned and bought the car after a joy ride in mine :driver:

ps: Picture? Nothing much lar just a stock looking black gti with 95% tint. Adliz should post up his ride. hehe...

No choice. I just purchased a 118i lately...

To be honest, the GTI is a wonderful car. 200k fully utilised!

becareful when mapping your gti.
u need to install the steel diverter valve, as well as a higher capacity fuel pump.
kalau mau lagi best, pasang downpipe and full exhaust system + air filter.

hi,

interesting post here, i have a VW Golf MkV 1.6 FSi with some minor mods. this car is more on the fuel economy section but power is average considering its a 1.6 litre engine, the only brightside is its direct injection technology gives it more torque. among the mods i added were a Sprint Booster (drive-by-wire performance upgarde) and a K&N Induction kit (pod type air filter).

for the Golf GTi, i test drove it on the Shah Alam highway, fantastic acceleration and body control. hit 170 km/h very easily with minimal wind noise. Stand still acceleration is so mighty good that it actually slams you back into those bucket seats, no kidding i almost had whiplash from full throttle after paying the toll.

haven't tried the MCS, but based on feedback it has go-kart handling which is good-ol-fun and highly responsive as some have quoted.

I vote :

GTi for power esp for town usage, good "sleeper" car ( not red version )
120 for assured service backup n German reliability
MCS for overall fun, fashion statement, ICON

U can guess which i will buy if I have a windfall.....

Heard Golf GTI has some reliability issues

There has been lots of complaints on squeks in the interior and there are cases of cooling fan failure which is disasterous on turbo charge engines.
Would like to know from you guys if buying from Wearnes better or Euromobile is using Audi service centre which I think is much more advance.

I think they are giving 6 thousand ringgit off with 3M tinting at the moment.

Have you gotten one?

Not yet.Which dealership is offering the RM6K discount and the free 3M tint?

I have had my GTI since 2005 (with about 40,000km clocked) and so far it has been pretty reliable, except for the cooling fan failure which was replaced under warranty by WALD the same day I brought it in. The cooling fan failure was for the AC, not the engine BTW. The only other slight quibble was a soft rattling noise from the dash but that is fine now. Other than that no problems whatsoever.

So you are using a GTI WALD?
How much did you get it for??

Yes, I bought it from WALD for about RM225k if memory serves me right. I bought it stock without the crappy WALD tuning program which I hear was a disaster. I went with a stage 1 ECU upgrade from APR.

Stage 1 - you should be getting abt 250bhp / 410Nm ? Sweet.
