WJ, next track day old school Alfa GTV Bertone vs old school Kookaburra Toyota?
Your cars are too terror. Mine is a 30 year old car. How to match you guys. ;) Give me half a lap then can think.

My, my, all this high praise for the GTi. The only reason why they made it so good was directly due to the Civic R, Focus RS and other 200hp plus hatches. Otherwise, they'd probably continue trying to live off the "original" GTI tag (which belongs to the Alfasud, actually) while passing off overweight uninspired crap (see MK IV GTI especially, which was even blasted by the Yanks of all people!)

Why don't you guys test drive an EP3 or DC5 R also lah....

no doubt the EP3 or DC5 would be more capable cars around the track. but can they lap in as much style as the GTI?

really the car is lovely. we had a surprise visitor this past weekend at the IA ulu yam run. how can u not think she's pretty?! :eek:k:

redd

All I can say is "Wow".

After seeing the uninspired e90 in flesh, I definitely would consider the Gti if I want to change to a new car.

Yeah, they are selling the Toureg as well. The Golf GTi is a serious competitor for the E90, and offers much better value than the E90 in my honest opinion. I personally liked the retro looking dashboard, and much better interior finishes compared to the E90 we were looking at last week. The DSG gearbox seems to be a gem... :D :D

Could this be the Ultimate "Driver's" Machine?? :D :D
I think GTI class is totally not the same class as the E90.

I saw the new GTi going up the bangsar hill and it looks stunning in Red! OMG!!

Still RM230-260k for the GTi is a BIG decision to spend on the VW marque. Other considerations should be the acclaimed WRX STi in its full glory from Naza. Lovely looking ride as well and should be much quicker than the GTi with the lovely flat four loping away and you rumble down the street. :p

Agree with you E46F.. the WRX performance are better and its proven :D

But the GTI manual price is 198k le. Can get some discount summore. 220k on the road for the DSG box. So price is quite attractive i hv to say. Might just consider a STI after all.

I think its not right to compare the two cars, WRX STi and a Golf GTi, if you really know what GTi stands for. I would gladly take the Golf GTi (with some cash too as it goes for RM220k) anytime, anywhere :D And it comes with the state of the art DSG tranny, something which the japanese have not come out with, not to mention the typical teutonic feel of a fine german automobile. :D :p

Ya, true as well that the GTi (non DSG) is priced way below the WRX STi. Also its a hot hatch GTi class instead of a AWD sedan. However, once you are in cars like the boyracer GTi or Civic R etc you will attract a few interesting cars on the road stuck behind you tail when you least expect it. It'll be a shame to pull over for the WRX STi, or Mitsu Evo VII/VIII once you are playing in the boy racer league heh.

Thats the nice thing about the BMW 3 series (non M of course). Playing in different league and it doesnt feel as shameful pulling over for the modded Vtec/Mivec/Turbo/Supercharged boy racer "tionging" you if it ever happens :)

Yeah right... Last I heard you didn't move out of the way of that black Integra sneaking up your tail. In fact, you gave it quite a fight in 3rd b4 pretending to turn. With the Golf GTi, you shouldn't need to pull over for an Integra....

actually vw want their golf to challen the impreza and lancer but bcos they never invest in wrc they don't have a wrx or evo... and of course for banzai driving sure lose one... and vw want to position their cars to suit profile of their buyers... they don't want the ah beng business... so they create this gti thing... got class also got performance... a bit of this and a bit of that... like ah kua like that...

Stock standard the GTi can hold its own against the Integra, if talking about modded ones, Mr.Wanker has mentioned some nuts have even change the turbos and remapped it and its able to churn out 400hp...its all a question of how much you are willing to spend! :p

Still young at heart maa... But the E46 does not attract as much "excitement" as the previous black EK4 with the red SiR badge and chrome Trust Evolution exhaust did heh.
