Wanted to highlight something which I just learnt - a BMW 640i coupe in Malaysia starts at RM 768,800.00!!! See what I mean by horrendous price!

Sure, both Singapore and Malaysia are paying cut-throat prices compared to the drivers in the UK or US, but although my spec'd to the hilt 640i rings in at a smidgen shy of S$385,000, dollar for dollar, that's like half the price of a 640i in Malaysia! *Faint* And that's RM 768,800.00 before you started adding in the juicy options... goodness me!

Exactly, dollar to dollar, singaporean are enjoying much better purchasing power! thanks to your capable Govt that make your currency worth so much. ours are a bunch of jokers who only care for their own pockets.

Dun say until like that lah, brother ... each country will have ups and downs. Relatively speaking, our purchasing power may be OK, but the costs of running the cars will be extremely taxing. COE, ERP alone can make grown men cry... and, like the majority of Singapore, my car is only lease-hold for 10 years ... need to renew COE if I wanna keep driving the same car after 10 years!

I dont know where you do your currency conversion but I reckon SGD385K is equal to MYR928K and that is very far from half of the Malaysian price. In fact an equally loaded 640i in Malaysia is about MYR848K which is cheaper than the Singapore price and that is even before adding COE.

Thanks heavens for the jokers who only care to line their own pockets. I can have a brand new fully loaded 640i and an 07 E90 325i to potter around for the same amount of money.

I wouldn't know about which jokers lining what pockets, but I did mention 'dollar for dollar' - which I guess was kinda confusing if you thought I meant the exchange rate (which wasn't the case, obviously). What I meant to say was that, given a man earning RM 10,000 a month as a senior engineer in KL, and another man in an equivalent position taking home S$10,000 a month in Singapore, the S$385,000 would suddenly look a lot more achievable than the RM 848,000, wouldn't it?

I read your post on the spec sheet as if the car is mine even it is just a far dream away. Not too sure how well about the integration of 3rd party electronic immobiliser into the DME/ZKE module.

I guess I'll have to find that out if/when I need to consider adding the alarm system. Otherwise, there is always the good old steering lock option ya? Haha :)

Bro wobbles, maintaining a black colour car is much better than white. I have one in white, no thanks to my wife whom somehow managed to poison me to change. Was supposed to get it in silver for easy maintenance. Now not really complaining as white does bring out the beauty of my car.
Ya, relating to dollar to dollar comparison, i think we should look at UK for comparison. Darn, with the money we have, we can get so many highend cars. However, cons are the high fuel....and COE for your case. Anyway, since i hate to park knowing some idiot will scratch it (most likely delibrately), i would settle for smaller car.

Hi Bro DJH, yeah ... when I was studying in Australia, although the prices weren't exactly cheap, there were still heaps cheaper than back in Singapore (or Malaysia, for that matter). Then, when I did my further studies in the UK, my eyes popped out from their sockets - fcuking heck, we've been royally ripped off! £50,000 buys a DAMN decent ride. £50,000 here in Singapore just about covers that blasted piece of paper that accords me the right to the pleasure of spending my own money to buy a car to run on the blasted Singaporean roads. Then again, we make do with the lot in life that we're dealt with - I can't just complain about the expenses here, yet be content to reap in the benefits of a (relatively) safe environment, an efficient government and a country with good $$$ reserves to help cosset us from the coming economic storm. Gotta take the good with the bad & vice versa, that's what my momma always say :)

Good pointers there.
With the escalating prices of cars for each new models, i would expect a new 3 series in 10years time would be more than 30% now. Money getting smaller, pocket not deeper.

Inflation does all of us in - that's my rationale to my wife, when I put the money down for the F13 - I said to her, in 10 years' time, a 6'er would be nearly a million dollars to buy, and to make things worse, I'd be way too old to look good driving it, heheh.

But you will feel younger when driving it bro...hehe

True, true ... when I sat behind the wheel of the Z4 while contemplating between that & the F13, I really felt 'younger' - at least, young at heart anyway. It's quite a different feeling, hard to explain in words. The same feeling prevailed when I test drove the 6'er. Can't say the same when I get onto the driver's seat of my F02 - that very quickly makes me feel like an uncle again.

that's why i am sticking with my 320d and somemore in white so can attract some attention (ahem). PPl call it tak tau malu lol

I had ladles and buckets and wheelbarrows of free time on my hands today, and came up with a (admittedly badly photoshopped) image of what my incoming F13 will look like in March 2012, and what I hope my F13 will look like once the factory warranty runs out and I get a good drop of 10 - 20mm down with a new set of springs/coilovers (hey, a man can dream, can't he?). The 'stock' F13 is on the left, the 'dream' F13 is on the right:

Gosh... EVERY day, I swear to you, EVERY day, I'm looking for something to do, just to while my time away, until the damn car arrives!

Thanks bro Eggie - it's a very amateurish attempt with basic photoshop skills - just dropped the car 10-20mm and also filled in the usually chrome trim with the Shadowline trim instead. And I found that I really liked the Shadowline trim appearance more than the chrome one. I think it goes well with the F13.

Over at the bmw-sg forum which I also frequent from time to time, there's another brother who's taken delivery of an F12, and did a powerbox upgrade of his 640i. Apparently, he thinks that upgrade is churning nearly 600Nm of torque, and pushing close to 400hp. Now, I think that's probably a little optimistic, but if there's really such a potential tuning system out there, I'd be seriously considering it for my F13...

No worries. You're even better at Photoshop than me!

Just curious, you mentioned in one of your earlier posts that most mods are only for the 650i? I thought some tuners like Hamann/Kelleners etc already have interior+exterior mods for the F12/13, irrespective of the engine capacity?

Bro Eggie, it's true - most if not all of the quad pipes are meant for the 650i, but the other bits like the aerodynamic add-ons, spoilers, front air dam etc are suitable for both models. However, since I already have the M sport kit, the only thing that I'm on the look out for at the moment is to get my twin pipes changed to quads.

Now, there is a local exhaust specialist that quoted me $750 to get the pipes welded and the diffuser cut/trimmed to make it "look" like quad pipes, but I'm after the real deal - I want the silencers to also sound good :)

I'll just have to wait till eisenmann or hamann or hartge come up with a quad system for the lowly, humble 640i....

the question is whether our bro wobbles got balls to drive as crazy

Boss, the "humble" 640i's 320bhp and 450Nm is already capable of "swallowing" 95% of the car on the road.....and in the league of supercar la. :)

Cheers.

You are too kind with your words. It's no where near a supercar, but for me, it's a dream come true :) Thanks for the funny videos - I'll remember that, when I drop the car's height later, hehehe.
