Best get it to a BMW SC nearby and get them to top up with their special BMW grade coolant and inspect if there's any leak.

Don't top up yourself.. WARRANTY VOID!!!:eek::eek:

got 2 function i dont really understand how does it work, a symbol with P -> 0s,30s,90s.... wat function its that? and another symbol its the seat symbol with door open and off. i did read the user manual but my english too poor not very understand also...haha hope all can help

paul

Hahahaha.... u come to the right place.. :D

The P -> 0s,30s,90s are the duration of your parking courtesy light. 30s means your angle ring in the headlights will turn on for 30 sec when u use your remote to unlock or lock the car. Some call it courtesy or welcome light... provided your headlight is on "A". Cool feature but not recommended when you are in a deserted car park because it will give your position away and alerted any crooks that may be eyeing on hijacking your car. So you turn your headlight switch to "0", it will disable this courtesy light.

Door open or off? I only know we can program the car to unlock either only the driver door or all 4 doors upon first press of the remote unlock button. If your select one door, then first press, only driver door unlock (safety), press remote again, the rest of the door open. Set it to all doors, then all doors will unlock on first press of unlock on the remote.

Don't remember seat symbol though..

Since I in this thread.. I want to share another new found feature on my E90...

Our steering can actually be pulled out and push in once its unlock for leveling adjustment. I thought we are restricted to only adjust the steering up and down only, now realise can pull towards your chess too if you have a long leg and short hand.. :p

Now I can push my seat a little behind, stretch my leg a little without worry of hand not long enough to reach the steering... tried it last night... nice:

i understand d, mean if i want to use that countesy light mean i need put my headlight on AUTO mode then only can active the P->302, 60S.90S when i lock n unlock the car right?

got one seat symbol la bro....the seat symbol with -> this direction one, then click inside can see the front pasanger door open one , on n off.. not that remote control one click open 1 door or 4 doors

another question, today i found out my car will auto lock when u leave the car and not press lock urself, sometime work sometime doenst work, how come will like that?

The moment u open the door, it will not work because it's smart enough avoid locking your keys in the car by mistake.

Meaning, the moment the car detected the remote is being depressed, to unlock or lock, but no doors were open after that, it safely assume that the key is still with the owner, the auto lock will kick in to lock your car after some time, usually 30 sec.... my Toyota also has this feature.

paulpaul2, are you sure your car auto-locks when you leave the car? There isn't such a feature. The feature that is available is "Relock if no door is opened" as astroboy explained. This feature can be set to be on or off.

Why it works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes, it could be 1) sometimes you didn't open the door and sometimes you did, or 2) you used a different key fob. Each key fob memorises the functions you set, so unless you set the same settings for both key fobs, you'll find different functions, even different saved radio stations, each time you change key fobs.

It's hard to learn all these from the manual. Trial and error is the best way, or get your SA to explain all the functions to you as he's supposed to. Being computer-savvy also helps. :p

does this function apply to the CBU units only or all E90s? I have the 2008 E90 320i sports which came with just 2 key fobs. no emergency key or spare key.

i'll test it on tomorrow, but i had try the P-> 0s,30s,90s,120s and called up david ask about this feature, but in the end doesnt work! so down!

i switch my light switch go to the Auto mode and set the P>90s, but watever i click remote on or off the door my angel eye also wont light! wat happen on my car?

Don't worry bro. Come and meet us and we shall see what's wrong with it. Small matter

My units were CKDs... It applies to all E90s and is called the 'Personal Profile' feature, just like you can set personal profiles in Windows OS. When you unlock the car with a key fob, it adopts the settings of that key fob for everything in the car that is settable. This car is a computer on wheels. :burnout:

You have an emergency key in the back end of each key fob. Press the button and pull it out. BTW, the key fobs have rechargeable batteries inside and you have to use both occasionally to keep them charged up.

Sounds like you haven't read the manual (like most of us) and you were too eager to drive off with your new car and didn't let your SA explain all the features like he's supposed to. ;)

I'm not aware of such feature and couldn't remember reading it in the manual either, how to set it up?

Don't worry bmFIVE, there's no such feature. But there is a RELOCK feature if you unlock the car but don't open any doors.

;)

Wonder how the batteries gets charged from the key fob coz I don't see any metal piece sticking out (unlike handphone)

Tis a marvelous car. :top: The only way I can think of is induction.

BMW have engineered some swish electronic features into the higher-end series, and now the 3-series is also getting them. It was fun discovering them because I never touch the manuals either. The bluetooth for instance, works like a dream.

If only they can solve basic mechanical problems...like oil-burn.

I think the P-> 0s,30s,90s,120s works this way:

1) After you switch off the car, pull the indicator stalk towards you (to simulate a high beam).

2) Your car lights will remain on for 0s,30s,90s or 120s depending on what you set.

This feature is useful for you to light your path from carpark to your doorstep.

I also found out that after you switch off the car and push the indicator stalk up/down, your car's parking lights (a.k.a. angle eyes) will light up as well, try it ;)

Does anyone know what is this item 17 on N46B20 engine? This is available in the E46 as well, the later 318i model. Same engine.

If I'm not mistaken, it is a cover plate. I had mine changed few months ago. Yes the symptom is coolant leakage. Is not an expensive part but require massive workmanship. Cost me RM 260 inclusive workmanship
