I hate DS mode, even till now. Very jerky. I prefer "M" .. cornering can drop gear in "M" ma. DS how to initiate engine braking?

When in DS mode I notice that you will feel the engine revs rise as the gearbox downshifts while you brake, there u get engine braking lor... in D mode this is not so obvious.
Guess this is due to the sportier gearshift logic while in DS mode...

But I still prefer M mode, more control over the gears :D

we had one discussion on the reverse mirrors.

question: when reversing, the mirrors will turn / adjust. then after putting back to drive mode, how come the mirrors dont adjust back to my original setting? anyone encounter this problem

hmn... I think is time for you to visit services center... Didn't heard anything like this before.

I think there's some programming issue. Maybe you can bring it back to your dealer (IA, right?) to rectify. For mine, they definitely go back up when engaging any gear after "R", even after reversing, you put to "N" before you zoom off at "D".

BTW, out of curiousity, how do you put it back up? Readjust again? You can actually press the Memory buttons at the side and it will adjust for you too.

Good luck and do give an update on what was done.

which one is the "memory button"? currently after reversing, i readjust manually.

do u always shift left and right button after each reverse? right button will have the auto mirrors. ???

the last round when i send my car to IA for servicing, the sales con said "fix chor fix chor". again i TRUSTED his word. damn..i should have tested it right...

The auto reverse tilt feature is triggered using the left/right side mirror adjustment control. U set to "left", then once u on "R" shift mode, left mirror will tilt. If you set to "right", then only right mirror will tilt when engage "R" mode. That's is it. The moment you r away from "R" shift mode, the tilt mirror will return to its original position. You should not meddle with side mirror control anymore.

The OBC would have a memory of the side mirror original position and should revert to that position once you r not in "R" shift mode. Infact the setting is stored in your key a.k.a. "FOB" and both key can have different settings depending which FOB you'r using and the side mirror will adjust accordingly to its driver specific personalised position.

Check with SC as it seems to be a software problem here.

The memory button is located on the right side of the driver's seat (where you adjust your seat forward/recline etc). There's button Memory store, Memory #1 & Memory #2. Of course, you would need to memorize the settings earlier prior to that. Just hit the button after you've reversed and the mirrors should adjust to what you have set previously.

However, as mentioned, better get the software settings done to rectify this in the long term.

argh..i need hands-on lessons on how to use the bmw....msport/ab... can teach or not??

Rachel, are you going to join us for brunch event at Ingress on this Sunday 11th May ? If yes, get your list of questions ready and we shall meet on this day to provide you the answers. Don't worry, we have a bunch of E90 sifus here :D

i think u might have pushed the seating button. those seating position also stored your reversing mirror position.

maybe maybe... when msport mentioned that the memory button is at the seat.... my first thought "Isnt it the button for seats only"? now i know...the button also for mirror.

then i also found out..different key, different program..betul ka???? then the car not so smart yet like knight rider...hahahaha because i was told to occasionally change keys..

er got a newbie question : does a new car come with TWO keys? so each key has its own settings for each driver (assuming two persons drive the car)?

thanks

I believe most cars today comes with at least 2 keys. I have 3, the third one is a thin wallet type for emergencies.

Yes, and even stickers are provided so you can mark them A & B or 1 & 2 or male and female - one key for you and one for your girlfriend. That's why you can set different settings for each key.
