in the long run, i think the beemer makes more sense la.. resale, after sales service, interest rate, driveability...
just my unbiased opinion. :)

Also, the ROUNDEL BADGE! :top:

Thanks for the suggestion JPB. Just received an SMS saying Raya open house is at ALL dealers. That's pretty good, giving everyone a choice of where to go if they're going.

Riki, I hope you do the test-drives in areas where you can punch it. They're both going to feel pretty luxurious and full of frills at slow city speeds. You'll notice the differences in steering and power delivery feel when you floor the pedal. We already know which one you'll like more if you do that. ;)

And so I have seen the light.
and I think U all know what it means.

tested the 325i and B8 this morning at Glenmarie

ride/handling/engine:
tested the 325 twice around the area and the B8 towards the airport. Little hesitant to really floor them but I see both have oomph. But somehow the inline 6 is smoother and and the ride and handling 2 thumbs up.
My wife also thinks the ride at the back is better in the 325

Looks:
From the photo on the net, the E90 facelift can hold its own in the look department
The B8 is well made and looks more executive and bigger. But thats not I am looking for.

No doubt the B8 has tons of bells and whistle but it is not enough to convince me.
It's like some offering a really good deal for a excellent condo but your heart is really looking for landed property, for more area to roam.

I am glad I had the test drives.
Pmaking my booking tomorrow :top:

Any comments?

well done. just out of curiosity, did u ask this same question in the audi forum? some guy called cire would surely be hammering the virtues of the B8 into ur head :)

as someone once told me before, after i bought my bimmer after a long bmw-less period, "a dog always returns to its vomit". :)

Dear Riki,
Congratz on your decision to buy a BMW. I'm sure you will not regret it and once you fall in love with it.. there will be no turning back to other brand..and considering the fact that you will get a full unlimited warranty of 2 years plus 60k or 3 years parts and service warranty...that will save you a lot in terms of maintainence...I must admit that you can't find this with other brand..My family still have 5 other mercedez with us but I still regard my BMW the best compared to the others..Welcome to the 'BMW' family...
Cheers..
Maanly

Good choice RIKI. Hope that you are getting the facelifted e90 and not the old one.

Cheers!

Yes I am waiting for the 325i facelift.

Hope what the SA says is true that its launching next month.
Wonder colours are going to be available?

HI guys, I'm in Spain now, and checked out the 2.0 B8 here, they have both sedan and stationwagon here..... My conclusion stick to the BMW! Just my two cents.....

Congrats, Riki... Glad you've now seen the light! I believe even though the B8 2.0 might turn out to be cheaper, you will incur less cost with the BMW's BSRI to make up for it as someone pointed out.

I heard that the facelifted 3er sedan will come in 3 variants : 320i, 323i (detuned 325i) & 325i Sport.

Is this true?
What is a detuned 325i. Does it means it has 2500 cc engine, but detuned to have less power/torque?
Do you have any idea of the prices?

I think I need to bring this thread to a close

Say hello to my new 323i Bluewater "friend" from Munich,

just one more question.
Sometimes the left side of my shoe is caught under the break paddle, as the right side wall is to close to the accelerator paddle and pushes my foot to the left.
Anything I can do?

Errr ... use a smaller shoe??? heheh j/k :D ... nice car with nice colour :top: any pics of d interior? more pixies pls :D

Congrats on the ride, and a good choice of color. Any more shots of the Bluewater under different lighting? I believe this should be the signature color for the LCI E90.

As for the paddle distances, don't worry, your feet will get used to it ;)

loved to read all the inputs and comments from fellow forummers....but i just found this on the net and it claimed to have won all categories...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQyTAVQH0nc

having gone thru the tech spec of both i found that the audi has 350nm of torque punching your stomach as early as 1500 rpm all the way up. The TFSi churning out 210hp.

mind you that the torque that we are talking about is as powerful as the e46 m3 or the evolution 7/8.

yes they are front wheel drive, or even the quattro inherent the understeer characteristic....but on the real world who really push their e90 rear ends till its drift? i can tell you wouldn't dare to tear the contisport contact 3 into shreaded to simply enjoy the driving experience....

end of the day, its all about the ability to accelerate with huge torque when u wanna overtake on the road or cruising at crazy speed when you are on highway....with that the 8 speed cvt can cruise at 120km/h from as low as 1800 rpm due to the torque and can really save your fuel. I've never drive it at highspeed but i reckon at 200km/h the rpm will be less than 4k....that is so quiet and comfortable speed i you wanna cruise from kl to jb.

and after sometimes when u are so used with the power, u'll get bored and here is where having the turbo charged really rewarding....simple remap rm3400 u can gain extra 50hp and 40nm of torque, add another 8 grand u'll get approximately 300hp....and the number will go on and on.

whereas, if you get the 325i, you'll get stuck with 218hp/ 225nm torque the rest of your tenure with it. unless you go hardcore with rebore and all which can be very messy. even then you won;t get the amount of torque that the audi produces....

get the audi for daily drive practicality....spare the extra money for a rx7 if you really crave for a morning drift up ulu yam or genting.

Where did you get those specs from? The B8 1.8T we get here manages ~160hp and 250nm torque. 0-100 is a full second behind the E90 325i. No way its as quick as the E90 325i in stock form based on my test. Pulls strong in the begining (low end torque), then quickly fizzles out. Quite a letdown. But chipping it may be fun, depending on how well the CVT holds up. But its a chain driven one if I am not mistaken unlike traditional belt driven ones found in Jap CVT gearboxes.

Well said E46F ;) Comparos must be done based on what's available here. Also FWDs are never as driveable as RWDs. I had a mean Volvo 850-T5 for a while and torquey though it was, it was never very pleasureable to push hard.

there's always E90/E92 335i Twin Turbo available if you think E90 325i is not torquey enuff... mind you 335i's 3L Twin Turbo is award-winning piece of machine, ok!

dont worry, i am saving up for the 335 real soon...kekeke...
