I think I will be last one in this GB to install the angel eyes. Anyway, did some modificaiton to relay harness to mount it where I think fits best.

Fabricated a box to house the relay + rheostat (to adjust the brightness). Location: Next to ECU.

Changed the fuse holder to a waterproof version.

Tapped the relay trigger into the parking lights

Tadaa...finally...

The angel eyes are so flush. Great work! What is the scheme you use to control the LED brightness? PWM? Do share the circuit if you don't mind. Is the current sinked by the LED of any concern at all?

Just normal rheostat (25ohm 12.5W rating - overkill but that's the only I can find) to the battery supply after the fuse.

PWM connected to high current regulators was in my mind but i think at a later stage. Definitely a better choice when I wanna do the dimming during car lock/unlock. The LEDs themselves at full brightness consumes approx 2A. I'm unsure the supply the interior lighting is using is direct battery or thru a set of regulators in the LCM.

anyone with the problem of flickering eyes? mine is like "fast and furious" now if u know what i mean

Did the flickering happen when you JUST turn ON the light?

it flickers when i turn the ignition on to number 1. it flickers.

This is normal lar. When the ignition is turn ON, the LCM will check all the bulbs filament to see whether they are in good condition. The reason why you dont notice it before you install the SMD LED angel eye is because the filament take time to light up whereas the LED light up instantly when there is a power supply.

alex, how many of the four got dead led?

maybe, i can help to repair them if you pass the ring to me.

btw, the warranty already expired.

Jarance, we can actually buy those SMD LED and modify any existing lighting system right? Any website where a rookie like me can refer to on how to DIY SMD LED stuff? What would be the required tools? I am interested to fix some for my kereta kebal :)

I think they can be bought at pasar road off jalan Pudu.

Here is a picture of the LED.

Hi guys,

I have a little problem here perhaps you guys might be able to help. I manage to install the angel eye but I'm not using the always "ON" setting, so i connect to the small light for the power source with out a relay. However, I do not wan the small light to switch on together with the angel eye, so i disconnected it but then the error code shows on my dashboard. How do I disable the small light without the error code?

Thanks in advance.

Cool problem to solve, this can be done by tricking the LCM by putting a similar load replacing the bulb, example a resistor. Resistor need to be a high wattage one to be abe to dissipate energy supplied to it. This is less than ideal solution more to a hack and waste of energy.

Maybe wait for Jarance to answer since he is looking to disable similar bulb checking but on the license plate.

Cheers

Bro just unplug the small light socket will do. I do mine such way and there was no error code

Thanks guys.

@Alex, ya i did, in fact, i connected the ring directly into the socket head which i unpluged.
@Aidilj, I'm thinking of putting a resistor as well but not sure what omhs to get. I saw some1 posted in 46fanatics to put 200omhs of resistor for the signal light. will try try later, nid to run to pasar road again.

Btw, 1 more silly question. Does your LED lightup (very dim) whenever u swith on your car? (for those who not setting up the always ON setting)

Mine Anger Eye dosn't ON when switch on the car, it's only lights up when i turn on the light switch. The light exactly like my avatar and it was very bright he..he..

Case solve.. thks guys.
Solution : 220ohms resistor
Cost : 5cents each at pasar road, pudu.

Connect it like a bulb

Nice, good to know this, resistance value should be the same as the resistance across the bulb. How did you the resistance value? But it's ok as long as it works.

This is a good value as power dissipated through it is managable, but I would go for a little higher wattage just for safety reason. Suggest you go for at least 1W since the one you use looks like 1/4 or 1/2W. Calculations

V=IR
I=V/R=12/220=54.5mA

P=IV
P=(54.5m)(12)=654mW=0.654W

If the resistor gets hot then its not good. And the resistor is wrapped right? not exposed like the picture..
