Saya sendiri pun x pasti apa punca masalah e60 saya.

1. kereta akan terasa gegar selepas start waktu pagi/setalah lama berhenti.
2. Semasa gear 3 dah engaged, meter rpm naik secara step by step (mcm naik tangga) dan pd masa ini kereta terasa jerk.

frust jgk rasanya bila keta jd mcm nie...gear shift pun rasa mcm kasar sikit. fyi, sy dah tukar ATF oil brand revanol (german Made). ZF ATF oil xde stok masa tu. tq

Hello,

1- check spark plug dan engine mounting.

2- check selepas tukar minyak ATF, mekanik kamu ada tak reset idrive ?

3- pergi diagnos

Actually my car experience a jerk on cold start too. Normally when I start first time of the day, having it on "D" and pressing on the brake, the moment you release the brake you can feel the jerk. After 5-10 minutes of driving, everything becomes normal. It looks to me that the ATF oil might not be lubricating the gears completely, probably due to a dirty filter, bush or I don't know what else is there?

All sifus out there where to send car to reset gear box adaptation in KL? thanks

Yaya

all sifu out there please give us some detail of workshop that can do gearbox adaptation....... this issue is really make the UDM owner shacking ..... hehehhehe

If u r going to a workshop that does not have the proper diagnostic tools for yr e60, u may want to reconsider yr current mech. They are definitely not equipped to handle yr cars need then. There is a thread on mech shops somewhere in here. Just do a search ya....

Hi Guys, I was having problems with my geabox in my 545 been around to a few places and had little luck. After reading the posts I took it to mscope in Batu Caves and it is now fixed, just needed small reprograming.

Dear All,

I bought a 2007 523i in Sep (about 6 weeks ago) and decided to do full service and I posted this on 26Sep11 if not mistaken under E60 parts and maintenance to do a price comparison. The transmission oil tray was a bit damp but the gearbox see to perform well enough during test drive. The mechanic helped to do test drive as well and we noticed somejerkbut does not happen often. Mechanic recommended changing AT oil and see how.

I have now driven the car for about 6 weeks but haven't gone anywhere far so only covered 1k in mileage. Generally I think the car is OK except I notice jerk in gearbox if I "hesitate" or am "unsure" especially at about 2,500 rpm' for example if I step on accelerator but if there is traffic and I maintain at about 2,500 rpm for a couple of seconds, the transmission slams. But if I rev the car hard, no such problem, for example at above 3,000 rpm up to about 6,000 rpm the gear changes are smooth.

I have also found a way to avoid the slamming by modifying my driving style. For example if I rev up to between 2,500 to 3,000 rpm and run out of road then instead of letting go of the accelarator I immediately switch my right foot to the brakes, doesn't have to be hard braking, but just assist the car in slowing down, then no slamming. Overall that means more attentive driving, concentrate and focussed the no slamming. Can be considered exciting but then my only concern is that is this a problem?

This happens at slower speeds as well but more slight, the point is if I am not concentrating and leave the downshift to slow the car especially at about 2,500rpm, the slamming happens.

A bit concerned, is this a problem? Thank you all

Got my e60 523 to retify gear slam in Mscope Batu Caves. So far so good but got to go back in three weeks time to program again. no more gear slamming for the moment car felt more smooth for now. Will update more after second programming.

what is the term fo this type of programming? And why do you have to do it twice? Also, why did the mechanic decide this was the solution?

Is Mscope difficult to find?

Thx

hey guys;

Just wondering any other mechanic is able to do the GEARBOX RESET and UPDATE thingy or do i have to send to Auto Bavaria?

After more monitoring, i realize that when the gearbox is cold...i.e. just start engine..the car tends to be unable to decide which gears to choose from below 80kph, sometimes in face it jerks quite violently, like changing to 2nd then releasing to 3rd then back to 2nd.

Also i took the car for a spin in genting, and on the way down the car automatically used low gear for engine braking but halfway down the hill i got a "TRANSMISSION FAULT, possible reduction in acceleration" And i realized the car was stuck in gear 3 and would not shift up or down. Stop and restarted engine and all went back to normal... why does it do that?

Anyone have this problem? ThankS

Hi Bro,
Does your GB problem solved? I have the similar problem, so, what is your solution for your UDM? Can you advise me.. thanks from Harry

I have not solved it yet. Its a problem i lived with all this while.. but i think its getting worse... its a random problem though... i might try to go for transmission adaptation.. anyone can help if they know why the transmission fault issue comes up? I realized that if i dont use engine braking via low gear coming down genting.. problem does not appear..

Hi bro, if you reset the error code and clear the GB adaptation, it's still same. I did it before and the transmission fault still appear when I wanted to overtake a car in front (suddenly press hard the pedal to speed up) then the error pop up. So I need to stop car aside, off it and restart again, the error disappear. But the error will be recording in I-drive memory, if you send car to dianose, it tells everything. I sent for 3 workshop, they mention to change the valve body will solve it, but it's quite costly that I'm still holding it I'll do it soon if it still exist, hopefully will not spoil my whole GB. Hahaha

"transmission failure" and "engine fault" are two different sets of problems, which is which? If its transmission, have a look at the crank sensor, it could be faulty. ....

Hi bro, is transmission fault, the gear cannot up higher and it lock on 2nd gear. Rpm become very stress, what is crank sensor? How much cost to replace? Any workshop to recommend?

Then its the Crankshaft Sensor bro. It is located underneath the starter. To knw if it is really the sensor problem, you can do a small trouble-shoot.
Try starting (cranking it) the car and if the rev counter remains at zero, than its the sensor. Cost for the sensor is ard RM300 excluding workmanship.
I am Kuantan based and we have here a couple of workshop here run by experienced BMW mechanics which I can recommend you but if you are Klang Valley based, you can try Obemaier at Jln Ipoh or bimmerholic in Sunway. There is also one in Glenmarie where the E 92 guys love to go ..... Try browsing the forum and look for the "Recommended Workshop" thread and you will find more there.

Pls feel free to pm me if you need more info. :top:

My 523 also suffers from the infamous slam when coming to stop. Changed ATF & oil pan & did a software update. Saw some improvement but problem is back, especially when my Powerbox is active. Did reflash myself - slam goes away for awhile but back again.. depends on how i stop... tends to happen if i apply brakes gently.

Not to promote anyone, but this guys does adaptation coding. Before this i had the perception that reset gearbox means using the diagnostic tool and clear. But its actually not.

The adaptation must be done via NCS Expert software. May contact Vic at this email for your upgrade software and coding needs
