I am having this problem still n almost decided tl change valve body aka mechatronics. Recently i received verbal quotaion at rm3.5k which is very reasonable. The installation of valve body does not require gb expert.

My freinds 520 had the same problem and what we did was to get the sw (sofware) of the gear box updated. Apparently when you change the version of the sw, the gears change diffrently and thus you dont get all this issues of jerk etc. Recommended for malaysian cars a ATF change every 30k and filter every 60k after the car has reached the 100k mark on the speedo. Hope this helps!

hello guys,

i had a problem with my gearbox.. before this my gb jerks when i want to drop gear n few weeks ago, i got an error "transmission fault"..
i send my car to workshop and they change ATF and also did gearbox adaptation. but when i want to take my car the mechanic says my gearbox leaking and they already change all the seal and everything but the problem still there..
they tell me to change the gearbox.. do u guys know the price for changing gearbox? or is it repairable?
any solution?

thanks guys!

The jerk is caused by faulty mechactronics solenoids at the gearbox. You just need to replace the 7 pieces solenoids and not the whole gearbox. Refer to this thread here .........http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/foru...4-Need-some-advise-please&p=852051#post852051

Hi Herbert, why E60 GB solenoid become common faulty?? Does the new F10 also having similar issue???

Perhaps you may have noticed that the set of new ZF solenoids (7 pieces) you bought from BA consist of 1 piece black, 3 pieces yellow and 3 pieces blue. The blue solenoid is the improved version and it replaced the previous green ones.

As for F10, it is the new ZF 8 speed gearbox and so far have not heard any complaints.

I think you are referring to gearbox jerking and not leaking.

Gearbox leaking is usually the case of worn out mechatronics sleeve. Price of the sleeve is about RM60.00 and can be easily replaced by an experienced gearbox mechanic.

As to gearbox jerking, usually it is the case of the mechatronics solenoids. I have replaced mine and a few members here did the same and problem of gearbox jerking resolved.

I think you mechanic is unfamiliar with gearbox and as worn out clutch plate will not cause the jerk.

Common symptoms for worn out automatic transmission clutch plate are (1) harsh gears upshift/downshift (2) car may have difficulty accelerating when you step on the accelerator pedal.

Bryan,

PKL did resolve my gear slam problem plus PKL also resolved the gearbox jerk encountered by a few members here.

Hi all...i just got myself a beamer E60 uk spec..excellent driving performance..However noticed that each time the car stops at thetraffic light for an instance, the car jerks a couple of times..Only worried if it is gear box issue..please advise.

Something interesting to share. My friend 's E60 was experiencing jerk when coming to a stop. Last month, he changed his engine gasket and his jerk issue problem solved 100%.
So maybe engine gasket may affect transmission experience.

there are many engine gaskets...oil sump gasket, oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gaskets, cylinder head gasket.
which one did he replace which cured the gearbox jerk?

According to him, it was valve cover gasket. He has been trying to simulate the jerk but unable to do so. So, so he conclude his jerk issue resolved. The funny part is, he didn't know that by changing the gasket will solve the jerk issue and it was not his intention to solve the jerk issue by replacing the gasket. Interesting...

Bro, better give a try as advised by Herbert, mine did couple months back, and its solve lots issue including jerking, the total cost burn up around 4K. consider this as mandatory scheduled maintenace since the mailage more than 120k km alrdy....

My car already 210 k mileage now and still running strong without any jerking issue .. ( touch wood ) first time ATF changed at 180k mileage and works fine till now .. Mine is LCI version and quite trouble free so far since day one ownership except wear and tear part replacement , so conclusion is BUY LCI. No doubt !
