hi guys,i'm experiencing some irritating jerk followed by a clunk sound each time i release my clutch after entering 2nd gear from 1st. Even at times on 1st gear also I will experience some jerk and clunking sound.I tried listening where the clunking was coming from and noticed it was from behind underneath the car. As though theres some problem with the rear axle or something. Does it need some lubrication or what?Usually this happens in the morning when the engine is cold, but now its happening very often and i'm getting really irritated with the jerks when changing from 1st to 2nd.Any sifu can provide some advise? Thanks.

check long shaft bearing, guibo (the rubber thing) and long-shaft bush

also could be ur differential bearing is worn out!!
I doubt differential bearings gives u the clunking.. it may whine and hum but won't causing jerk and clunking.

most likely its ur long shaft/propshaft.....or the centremount which houses the shaft.
anything,pm me and i'll give u a few places to visit/call for advice.

diagnostic by proxy will not give u the best results. we are giving u educated guess without knowing the true symptoms. U can't totally rely on these results. best is to get an experienced mech to zoom in on the possible areas which have been disccused.
BTW, if ur bushes hasn't been changed before, don't u think it's about time anyway, after more than 10 years in service???..

Guys,

My E30 now also same problem. The jerking and clunking sound just as described very early in the thread.

But then, my suspension all gone already. Was advised to change the whole suspension mechanism plus the bushing whateverlah. Still scouting around for the best deal. My 2 tires also need to be replaced.

With this clunking and jerking thingee, I pray there won't be any major major problem. Soon I'll be pokai man :(
