named L&C, nearby Sri Rampai Setapak. It is some normal garage which under my insurance coverage list.

i hit my radiator and front bonnet last month. Thats the garage which handled it. so i gave them a chance to do the work while the car was leaving there.

But sadly, he really disappointed me, after changed the radiator, the engine Fan broken again & again. So they changed the 2 units of gearbox mountings, hoping it solve the problem.

But then after some tough run, the radiator cover came off again, and the fan jam at it and broken again!

Next wednesday i got to visit them again.. he also dunno whats the problem now which causing that!

Pls enlighten me if u have any advice.

p/s: Clearly, the fella is bullshitting me on differences of M-sport version Engine. But he did settled some small engine issue nicely earlier. so i gave him a try, since the garage is nearby too.

You mean the below cover keeps coming off into the fan?

Bro,

Gearbox mounting should not affect the engine fan. That should be the two engine mounting that would affect the engine fan.
Also if the fan was not mounted correctly than it could affect.
If mounted correctly the space between the fan and the radiator inside cover should be about 1 finger size or more.

Dear All sifu,
My 94 325 failed to start one afternoon...after 30 min (when the engine cools of abit ) it was able to start. Berlin motor works suggested that i add a relay to my starter. He claims it's a common solution for Japanese cars.

Have anyone of you ( bm lovers) done this modification? Wondering if it's safe/good to do this.
Regards, jc

Hello semua, sudah lama tak masuk Thread...since my 318 M43 1997 water pump cover pecah 12 months ago..since then and after spending nearly 8K...everything was OK..until recently my exhaust system need some attention. need some assistance where to get my exhaust system redone to its original state and cheap..at least the final exhaust box need to be change..

Dear JC BMW,

I drive a 96 318 for 12 years, and still driving it, and i have not added any relay for starter. Repair done on starter is to add the carbon, done in Penang. Doesn't cost much, around rm100 i guess. Otherwise, your immobiliser (chip at key) may be the culprit, which i really doubt, unless you installed 3rd party auto starter, and has contact problem.

Cheers!

Yes, it is possible to replace the carbon brush. Description on bill (Mar 2008) was "Starter. To service, Supply & change carbon rm80.00". Done that at Chu Seng workshop, Penang. Cheers!

New ones if i remember correctly cost 200 or 300 + per side. C pillar cover cost the most among the ABC.
most people would just silicon in the cover as to be honest how often do you open that part.... hmm like almost never :p
or you can get it modified. search around the forum. there was a mention about someone in jalan ipoh who can do it.

thanks Slyder, I have check with Bavarian auto parts one side would cost around RM 345..I think I will take your advice to silicon it..
