It is somewhat true, but I have a 14 year old wira that also eats my money and still hungry all the time! lol..

Well, last month I've bought a 1996 328i and after a few days of driving it, i felt that the gear-shift is a bit jerky, steering a little stiff (especially once you turn a corner the steering returns stiffly) and my temperature gauge is nearing the red dot. I sent it for checkup and maintenance and below is a breakdown of the costs:

1) Strainer - RM 105
2) Intake Manifold - RM 128
3) Return Pipe - RM 160
4) Pressure hose - RM 940 (killer!)
5) Power steering fluid - RM 57
6) Filter, gasket and fluid - RM 360
7) Gear selector oil seal - RM 120
8) Fan clutch - RM 310
9) Engine termostate, casing, o-ring - RM 292
10) Water pump and auxiliary belt - RM 265
11) Coolant - RM 24
12) Fan belt - RM 135

Total damage with labor - RM 3k +

Now having a bit of cash flow problem :-(

14-15 year old car...what are you expecting? Buy and drive like a brand new car?

There will definitely be wear and tear. Ever since I replaced almost all the wear and tear on my car, the only time it is ever in the workshop is when the car is due for it's routine engine oil change. So take care of the car and she will do the same to your wallet.

looks like your heart is trying to own a beemer. go for 325 instead. maintanence high or low that depends on the condition how the previous owner take care. yes i must say that some paerts is on high side compare to jap cars butttttttttt you are driving an UDM!!!!! so compare apple to apple. average maintenance if normal serviving at around 10k interval is less than 500. so it depends on how amny miles you are going to ride him. As for my case is about 3 to 4 months once. so you do the calculation by yourself. tq... cabutzzzzzzzzzzzz,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

yah, actually i must admit that i really wanna be proud owner of a beemer. hope i can ride it with a smile in the future.. :)

The maintenance is not that high.... If you get a good trustworthy mech, change things when it is time rather than when needed. I drive roughly about 4-5 k Km a month the car is serviced every 2 months on an average of RM 600. Owning a BMW you will have to plan your maintenance schedule. Your mech should be able to tell you of any major short comings.

If you're really looking for a 328, then you might want to consider my car... Hehe... Just overhauled the engine and gearbox, spent 15k in total, I guess you'll not be needing to spend anything on tine engine for the next 2 years.

I'm planning on 30k if you do the paint work and leather. Otherwise it's 34k. I still need to change the fog lights, and front windscreen. Plus mine come with a 18 button ObC.

All hoses has been changed, new belts, new thermostat, new power steering reservoir, together with hoses, new brake pads, new widow seals, all engine sensors changed. Spent 15k in total. Have full maintenance record too. If interested can pm me. The pictures are on another thread.

One more thing ... Milage super high.... 400k, it is a fun car to drive, so it is a waste to leave in in the garage, which is where it is.... Hardly drive it now.... That is why selling... The cash can be use to do up my 7
