Dear forumers,I have a 2008 e90 325i sports. I am really confused on when should I send my car for servicing. This is my first dilemma. I've heard from a friend that a new 320i can be sent for servicing at 10k intervals and its free even if there is no sign come up in the computer, but a new 325i would only be sent for servicing at 25k. Why does this happen? The strange this is that both models will changed with the SAME oil, then why have this double standard? Shouldn't a 325i get at least the same treatment since we pay much more in cost to 'rent' one?..My second question. Say for example there is such double standard and I dont care less about it since I love my car so much and want it to be given the best treatment, when is the best milage should I send it for servicing..Should it be at every 8k,10k, 12k or 15k..I know I would have to pay it though..but for the sake of the car I would..I've heard that if I send it for servicing at 10k I have to tell the SA not to reset the computer or something.. Do enlighten me..I hope somebody out there would care to help answer my questions for now. I have somemore questions but that'll be another time. I thank you in advance for the help..Maanly..

It's actually the other way around I believe. 325 gets a free change for the first 10K and then it's 25K subsequent while 320 every 25K.

Second question, most of us change mid way between 25K. Do a search as we have discussed this many times in this forum.

Enjoy your new ride!!!

According to an internal source, the 325i N52 engine is pre-assemble in Germany, ship in pre-filled with special grade engine oil. I guess that's the reason why the 325s are called in for 10k km service to get rid of this special pre-fill oil.

... as for the 320i, its not exactly 25k km but to be exact, its "condition base", meaning depending on how rough or gentle u drive, the OBC will recalculate and give u an estimate over time, sometime our OBC says 25k km, sometime it says 32k km..

a good rule of thumb ...y wait for the millage to hit 10K or more .... just change oil every 2~3 months will keep you away from all those headache later on ...

a healthy running car takes you further .....

Guys,
Just confirmed with Sapura Auto. Yes its true that 325i is serviced at 10k for the first service. Although I'm not so sure about the subsequent service though. It was just a small mistake by the sales personel which got it mixed up in the first place. Thanks again for the info. It has enlighten me and I hope it does for others too. I'm goin for my first service tomorrow and the appointment have been set.:top:

Bro, it's not a small mistake if he or she told you that the 325i Sports first service is at 25k instead of 10k. That could have been bad news for your engine!

Bro Schwepps,
Yes I know it is not a small mistake but humans do make errors. I am fortunate that I double checked with the service personel rather than to take bluntly whatever the sales person says. I've learned a valuable lesson here and hope that it will not happen to new people buying a new UDM. Be careful guys..Thanks to all bros for the comment.

My 320i is clocking 12k km now and I have to wait 10k - 15k km more for my next BSRI package routine service..

This is so unfair..

Just imagine the kind of service you guys are getting from AB/Sapura etc.

You are paying more than 1/4 million ringgit and they cant even be consistent with what they tell you about servicing the car.

Basically since BMW came up with this 3 year maintenance free package, they want you to service the car as few times as possible as to reduce their cost.

If I were you I'll just service my car every 12500km @ annually whichever comes first even if it means that you have to pay for your 12500km service.

Most people do about 20000km per year. If so you could service it every 10000km @ 6 months once.

Thats if you want to keep your car for more than 4 years.

PS Buying a second hand BMW is getting more and more risky!

Maybe I can find some hacker to hack the OBC and change the oil change reading to 10k km.. :p

Drive twice as hard and fast as you do now la astro. Use 1st and 2nd gear only. Then the service interval will drop fast because the OBC will think the driver is mad. :D

I know.. but BSRI does not cover tyres le.. :( Maybe I should talk to tth.. :D

Anyway, good suggestion... will do it and see if it works! :D

just got to know my 320i have the privilege to service at 10,000km for FOC. Am i the only one?? Astroboy & BlackE90 told me, 25,000km was the first service for 320i.

Guys/Sifu's..... I just bought 323i coupe (e92) from Ingress Auto a month ago. Just check with SA of Ingress and she told me the initial service is 25,000km but sum1 been telling me it suppose to be 10.000km.
When i called the SA again, she said i can send my car for early servicing but under my own expenses. so WTF is that free services and warranty of 3years (60,000kms)?
Did anybody bought their machine's from Ingress Auto? Kindly help me here. I'm really pissed with their explanations and excuses.

"10,000km or 25,000km"?

erzazei,
i purchased my car from IA. the mileage when purchased was 7k plus. I took the car back for service @ 12k (supposed to be 10k) but i delayed. It was engine oil service. Now, 320 and 325 car different because for 6 cylinder car, the first service is at 10k then subsequent is every 25k after that. So for me, the next time will be 35k. But IA suggested that I bring back around 20k just for routine check-up (free consultation).

Btw, the service indicator on the idrive will remind you to send yr car for service. i believe they (IA or BMW) has pre-set the settings.

Bro erzazei, Congratulation to you for having a new ride, E92.

Do not refer to your SA for service information, most of them are not technically sound (Pardon me if you are pretty with your SA).

The standard first service for 320, 323 & 325 is 10,000km, thereafter, will be every 25,000km or when OBC prompts.

Enjoy your ride.

U sure BlackE90, then how come my first service is 25k km, both confirm by SA and the OBC? This BMW Malaysia is really hopeless.. now my car is at 12k km, does it mean my 1st oil change is waaaaay....... overdue?

Can somebody give me the CAP contact?

Dear forumers,

All new bmw 1st service is at 10,000km. It all depends on how the individual dealers conduct their PDI (pre-delivery inspection) setting. If the mechanic is good than the OBC service light will up at about 10,000km for 1st service, than after that will be every 25,000km. my advise is to a oil change at 10,000km for the first time(the unlucky one have to pay for their 1st oil change like me) than wait for OBC service light for every 25,000km.

My 325i prompted me for 1st services at 8,000km, with 2nd service projected for 30,000km or 1 year after 1st service (which is likely to happen before I reach 30,000km). In the meantime, had a low engine oil warning at 20,000km and topped off 1L of engine oil.

I better clarify my statement.

"The standard first service for 320, 323 & 325 is 10,000km, thereafter, will be every 25,000km or when OBC prompts".

For 320,the first FOC lubrication will be as per prerequisites of BMW Owner's Manual, that is on 25,000km or depending on driver's profile by OBC's monitoring (which ever comes first). As some of us had managed to get their FOC lubrication done in 10,000km, it all depends on the "kam cheng" of the owner & Service Advisors. However, some of us did the lub change and paid.

For 323 & 325, the first FOC lub change will be on 10,000km.

Hope I have cleared the doubts for our brothers/sisters here.
