Got my baby back again yesterday, camshaft sensor and PDC defects after all the story, and jus got the defects parts replaces...... Just having a short ride, so far so good....
For AB service, need not further mentioned, met the head of sale for some craps, as drove my car 60+ km on milleage as for test drive. Lost confidents toward the mechanics..

As i lodged complaint to glenmarie, BMW voice, BMW web page, official letter to AB JB, AB HW and BMW Malaysia, wonder how they response to my case.........

BMW Malaysia should have more courtesy cars and to be despatched whenever necessary, 1-for-1 swap at whatever break down location, with full tank of petrol, to make it as hassle free as possible for us owners that are still running a warrantied car.

They should not make the owner spending time at the SC listening to whatever crap they have to say because whatever reasons they can give, are all craps and should NEVER be allowed to happen to a new under warrantied car!!

... and all critical warranty repairs especially for items that can stall the engine must be thoroughly tested out to make sure the same problem does not happen again!

Is that so difficult to do?

Simple, I think it all boils down to $$$. To make us sit down at SC to listen to crap is quite normal. Need to justify their existence mah.

I hate people that keep bragging in front of u telling what a great job they have done and we should be thankful for their existence... as if we don't know and are born yesterday..

Now I now why they spend so much to put up a big, nice, comfortable waiting lounge and German toilets! To cool furious customers down and I think they should focus in the problem rather then cracking their heads to cook up excuses! Famous BolehLand "Not Me!" mentality..

The bloody technician drove your car for 60km for the test drive, this is a bad things. The clowns should call you first and test drive the car with you seating beside. The new car is still in running in duration and the clowns may be ramming your engine up to 7K rpm and at what speed we do not know just to test the engine will not stall.
Any humble BMW mechanics around JB will call you first, have a discussion and then test drive the car with you seating beside.
The mentality of this AB guys is worst than proton or perodua, they treat people with no sense of respect for people that have commiting close to RM300K for their car.
Try to drive your car more often, follow general running in drive style. If another problem occurs, fight your rights bro and ask for a new car!

from what i heard from tyre shop or friends, so far e90 320i has quite a bit of problem. various problem.

My close friend
bought e90 325i. got niggling problem here n there. once the car couldnt start. have to call AB ambulance. turns out to be the steeering key lock broke or malfunct.

earlier, steering got sqeeking sound. bla bla bla.

THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF E90 ARE CKD . NO CBU UNITS.

My e46 318i though just a 4 potter, ITS CBU (NOT RECOND ONE) BUT FROM OVERSEAS BMW.

NOW 8TH YEAR, STILL SUPERB. NO SILLY HEARTBREAKING PROBLEMS. NORMAL WEAR N TEAR STUFF ONLY.

EVEN EXPANSION TANK STILL HAVEN CHANGE!!!:top:

i REPEAT...Lesson i learned from my trouble with my first new car from AB, DONT BUY CKD UNIT if u can afford it :)

Sorry that you guys feel that way about locally-assembled cars. I've owned both CBU and CKD cars, and honestly I don't find any difference in quality. My CBUs have had both minor and major problems as well, including a large part falling off once while on the road. I'll buy CKD anytime, and don't believe in paying the astronomical duties for a CBU anyway.

IMO the problems arise from the poor PDI done by some dealers here, who miss the ~2% manufacturing failures that happen in any industry. Sometimes I think they don't even do the PDI and just take a cursory look at the car and sign-off. Even my present unit had a couple of PDI failures which were irritating, especially when the dealer (no need to ask which one) gave me the run around too. Believe me, I blew my top...but not at the car...or the assemblers.

I beg to differ Unker. My ex-46 was CKD and I had 16 problems in the first year alone which was resolved by AB Glenmarie in the end with a courtesy E36 328i to ease the anguish. My E92 is CBU and after 19 months, I'm at a lost no matter how hard I try to find a problem. The moving of BMW CKD's assembling infrastructure from Shah Alam to somewhere up north ain't proceeding as well as we hoped, I'm afraid. Yet again, you might have gotten your car before the move was anticipated or implemented. Count your lucky stars! :top:

my NEW car replacement had the gear knob loose and came off. the bonnet didnt close flush. this is a car fresh from the factory.
do these guys actually check the car before it leaves the factory??

I agree with Schwepps. There isn't really a discernible difference between CKD and CBU. I had my fair share of problems with CBU BMWs so I would not say that they are superior. There has been significant investments made by BMW since they took over to ensure that the CKD cars meet their quality requirements. PDI is an issue but also given the much larger population of CKD cars, it is not surprising that the number of complaints are from CKD cars but as a % of the pop, i would hazard to guess that it is within range and comparable to CBU cars

There are 2 levels of checks, QC at the factory and PDI by the dealer. A good SA should also check the car before handing it to you. In my recent case, the issues were not QC issues but were PDI issues missed by PDI and the SA. I won't bore you with the details.

I've been in manufacturing before and I know that a small percentage of product does leave the door with defects, albeit usually not fatal. In this respect, the Japs seem to have the best QC, of that there is no doubt. The Europeans are not perfect. My CBUs with problems were European CBUs, and included a part falling off and bouncing on the road in my rearview mirror and snapped timing belt.

meinauto's statistical point is valid. Given the percentages, I just don't see the point of paying the heavy duties for CBUs...

sorry guys, when u all say CBU, do u includes those recond BMW fr Japan or UK???

or u mean new CBU Bmw from bmw fr overseas bmw factory??

TQ

well, my point is, i dont think its even 2% percentage. more like 10%, based on the number of complaints and cases i've been reading in the forums.
the japs definitely have done it the right way.

so, buying a new ckd unit means that u have a one in ten chance of getting a lemon.
