Ive just sent myself the CAS number to my work email for a price check.
I might as weel find out what it will cost me.. when the time comes

the most recent BMW update is 6135 9217853

The box has been updated 9 times already, so i think there have been problems for quite some time with this item..

hello guys,

i do share the same error.
i had to tow my car to BM world desa pandan, now known as auto deutsch. the owner encik yusri did a check and reset using BMW GT1 software something diagnostic kit.
he managed to unlock the lock temporarily and advised me to do software upgrade after raya.
Initially when i bought the car last week, it had already showed the amber / yellow error.
it is still under warranty from the dealer, i bought a recond one.

called stuttgard they said it takes 2 weeks to order. dunno how much it will cost.
this is when i came across this forum. 2 thumbs up for you guys for the knowledge and info.

p/s i have into myself in the newbie section. hope i do not offend any one of u.
this is my first thread.

hey guys

so sorry to hear about all the problems relating to the CAS and steering columns..just bought an E90 06, all these horror stories keep my fingers crossed every time i insert the FOB and crank the car up. Well I guess it would be a matter of time before this problem lands in my lap (literally the steering column!), later than sooner I hope :afraid:

Irwaniz1866 hope your ride is all well now..and hope you guys can give me some pointers when this problem bites me :shot:

Ok guys...finally my steering malfucntion has been fixed and my baby is back under the porch...well I took home the CAS unit....the white casing reminds me of a VHS Cassette...but inside is liek one of those mother boards of a computer..... so if you are curious to know what it is....well its attached here....so my 2 weeks of agony is finally over...except that my pocket is severly burnt bythis CAS thingy!!!

Anyway, it look pretty simple with only single board inside. Other than that is just a plastic case.

Hmmmmm..

Well, you can't get China/Taiwan "compatible" parts for the Beemers, much unlike the Japanese brands.

The technology cost is shared by a smaller number of cars, therefore the part price is exorbitant. So much for being premium and exclusive, right?

Price to pay for getting the pleasures of the UDM?

Brake pads = RM800
CAS module = RM2100
RFT tyres for 2 = RM1,600

UDM driving pleasure = priceless

Cheers guys!!!

Thank you for posting up pics of the 'culprit'. :top:

Could you also let us know what was the 'Fault Code' when it was diagnosed at the shop?
