Hi,

Thank you all for all the tips offered on this forum. I have just received my scanner. I tried to use it on my 2000 323i round port (OBD I) and all I got was just the same old ike and ews connection error, and no modules were found. I trawled through so many pages in this forum and other forums over the last few days to no avail. My cars does not have the OBD II port.

1. I learnt that there is no need to solder 7&8 as i'm using the OBD I port under the hood.
2. I did attach the scanner to the cable that connects to the OBD I port.
3. I have the drivers installed on Windows 7 Home Premium (following another forum's tips) and the software is showing that the drivers are alright.
4. I even tried plugging in before starting software, after starting software, unplugging and replugging a zillion times... to no avail

I am wondering if it is the scanner's wiring issue as it is so different from the others. I'm out of options. Please help.....

Bro open up the scanner, jump pin 7 & 8 and try again. If it works only then you solder it. I've tried it and it works on a non working unit bought on mudah.

I cannot jump cos the scanner only has the wire attached to pin 8. Also, there are wires attached to pins 1, 4,5 (soldered together), 8 and 11. Very different from the others...

Yes that is what I am saying. open up the cover, connect to car, jump pin 7 & 8 from the circuit board side open up the software. It should work. Tried it myself.

Basically pin 7 and 8 shares the same connection. just use any metal to jump just to test first.

Oh now I understand! I'll go try that and report back again for all to share. Thanks very much!

Year 2000 - 323 should be E46? E46 are OBD-II compliance.

btw, You are using Scanner 1.40 or INPA cable?

No more ike ews errors

Thanks for the advice haywire! It works perfectly now. Amazingly simple fix.

My car was bought in Australia so I guess they didn't have the regulation to have obd II in yet.

Have anyone bought the cables from sinosells.com? I've just got some, and on the scanner have this sticker on:

Should i be worried? Can i just install the software using the installer i have? No software have been included in the package.

haywire, the last time I got from sinosell is not like that.

btw, the previous website to download the program have remove the latest version and put a trial version on their website.

I have 2 version of the software in my usb stick, one is BMW Scanner year 2008 and one is BMW Scanner year 2011.

Should i just try to connect with the laptop, currently installed with the 2011 version?

The problem is incomplete without listing the error code.
and it would be useful it the model of the car is listed.
The more information is stated the easier it would be to pinpoint the problem.
