Of course thats normal for salesman. But when I know how much they earn by selling BMW. I would say pathetic for a premium brand

If what my SA told me when he finally got his commission is true the amount is too shameful to mention. Apparently he got less commission as he gave me a high discount. Added to this he had to split with the 3 pointed star competitor's SA who introduced him to me. No wonder he rides a bike to work normally and only occasionally drives his decades old kancil!

But the target is quite high and hard to achieve.

There seems to be so many supporters for 520d for obvious reasons but is there any reason someone should consider 523i instead? I am new and not sure if i am missing something here because 5231 is more expensive and as far as i can tell it has an extra active integrated steering only which is really not much.

We Malaysian underappreciate the integral active steering because it comes stock.check out the us bmw forum, whereby many will say that it worth buying the f10 because of that feature...

2 entirely different cars-besides the price option. Even if the 520d was more expensive than the 523i and it came without integral steering, it would still be worth it. Who needs the rear wheels to change direction? One day the electronics malfunctions and the car will end up in the monsoon drain! hee hee

Agree 100%, if at all the integral steering improves handling a lot... why is it non of the M car has this integral steering... It is a feature that a lot of owner in US wanted to untick when they order their new ride...

I can only share with the brothers here my personal experience - my F02 came with Integral Active Steering (essentially 4 wheel steering) and my F13 had that option UNTICKED - for the same reason as many of the brothers in the States - IAS did NOT improving handling, only made steering a lot less predictable!

of course integral active steering does help while parking the car or while u are making u turn at a tight junction... and this less predictable steering makes the car feels a bit out of control sometime...

OMG...it is getting worse...please ask to untick the Integral Steering option and get a cut off the stock price for the 523i.

my experience with bmw active steering ( e46 do not have it , make me smile on b-road ) . wife thought i wen bonker, e60 come with it ,
Lost all sense of road, very very good to park the car in mall , make you fee e60 smaller than e46 .

my f10 520d do not have it , Enjoying my road handling =) since i just reach 500km on my odo. stupid break-in period....

so conclusion , whats the purpose of your F10 use it a lot as driver car or you mainly use it to go park in mall , if yes get 523i if not you can consider 520d.

if use IAS remember to get reverse camera to complete the package for the ultimate car parker.

Agree with bro1234. With IAS, the F02 is infinitely easier to manoeuvre in a carpark, but it does so jerkily. Steering wheel lock to lock turning is reduced, for much smaller turning radius - but, honestly, I wish there were a way I could switch ON the IAS during carpark (yes, my F02 comes with reverse camera & guidance & PDC - but no auto parallel park/park assist though) and switch OFF the IAS while on the road. The ONLY time I feel the IAS is of any use is during parking, and the other times, it's just plain frustrating to feel the car so fidgety.

When I tested the F12/F13 and subsequently booked the F13, I made it a point to DELETE IAS from the list of options available - I don't mind turning the steering a little more (this is NOT the same as servotronic/active steering/power steering), just so I get a predictable, reproducible response all the time, everytime.

RWD has better turning radius so no complain here. F10 without IAS is suffice
