Hi Guys,

Im new to the BMW world. Just got myself an E90. Wondering if you can help me out. First of all, since I bought a used E90, I was wondering if there's any BMW workshop/specialist other than AB that I can send to. Second, whats the average price for service. Appreciate your advice since Im a noob :)

guys...my first time sending my car toan non-bmw authorised workshop..its autobac, a japan after sales specialist outlet. wifey sent it as i am indisposed (hehe..still not well). the mechanics are a few japanese engineers. the items changed/maintained are:
1- lube - petronas syntium 4l - RM213 and mobil 1l - RM48.
2- Castrol Dot 4 -RM23.59.
3- Wheel align + rotation - RM80.
4- Oil change workmanship - RM45.
Total RM417.10

I think its a deal, a good deal. anybody staying around meru, setia alam or klang pm me if you'd like to know more. anyway its beside klang sentral. my question -
1- how much lube do we actually need for a 323i (2.5l) engine? i put 5litre but the car idrive show that my lube is not enough.
2- the brake fluid change service in idrive is still blinking despite changing the fluid. how do i update the idrive?

Any help is much appreciated.

Bro,
Your 323i is 6 cylinders, so should require around 6.5 litres of engine oil. As for your 2nd question, no idea man...any sifu here perhaps can give few pointers

hello all,

Is it possible to extend bmw warranty when its about to expire?
Pleae advise.

Warranty - no, BSRI - yes, but... not worth it. You can check with any of the authorised dealers for a quote.

Good thread,

While I was driving to Damansara yesterday, I noticed there is quite a lot of smoke coming from the Engine bay when stopping down and strong smell of burnt charcoal.
Pulled over at one of the BMW specialist shops near Puchong ( Before hitting LDP)
Noted there was some oil stain in the peripheral of the cylinder block, Suspecting gasket failure.
Mom had said there are some oil stain in the car porch for some time and we put that down to the VW as the car was recently serviced at Ingress and deemed to be in good health.

I realised this is a common fault for BMW at 4-5 years of age and particulaly common in the N46 engine.
So I proceeded with the repair.

Final outcome

5 Litre of Shell engine oil: RM 240
Gasket repair kit with o rings and other seals: RM 505
Workmanship: RM 120

total RM 865.

Also noted rear brake pads are worn
Quoted RM 230
Brake sensor 70
Workmanship 40

is this reasonable for the above repair?
P/S: Ingress auto states brake pads were in good health just 2 months back and now the mechanic says is cutting in to the disc soon.

Hi CK,

From my experiences, for N46 oil leak can be caused from many reason. I have done the following:
1. Gasket profile change at Obermaier - RM 350
2. oil seals - RM 80
3. Vacuum pump - most expensive RM 1100
4. Rocker cover - RM 300
And yet still pending to do the leakage from oil sump gasket. It's a massive work. Need to leave car for 1-2 days.

Anyone had their front shocks changed here? Mine has started to show the leak from front left side strut. Need to change soon.

Hi guys.. Just need some answers/opinions.. My E90 is 4 years old.. 3 weeks back, the engile oil indicator came on.. Went to the specialist to get it checked out.. When they drained it, it was only 2 1/2 L.. So went with the normal service.. Change oil etc.. Few days back, the indicator came on again.. Went to send it back and when they drained the engine, engine oil was.. Surprisingly 2 1/2 L! Anybody have this problem?? The guy said that engine already "makan minyak" and needs overhauling.. :(

Need some opinions or related stories... Or 2nd opinions.. Im about to lose some serious moolahs here!

Thanks in advance
