Lee, both the pearl white what are their base tones?. pearl white are normally defined by the base tones

Slyder,

Thanks for your question, that's a good one. I don't know for sure, but I'd take a guess from what my uneducated eyes can see, one is gold and the second is green. Sounds horrible, but in real life, they look good. Much better than what the camera can capture, because the shades are so subtle.

Go for the gold one it looks better. green tone doesn't look as striking. Blue tone also is nice. Have a friend who owns a spray shop so used to lepak there so got to see and compared the different types of pearl whites.

Being worked on patiently by hand.

Step by step, no rushing. Plenty of water in the claying process. Before claying, the surface felt coarse to the touch. After claying and sanding, the surface became amazingly smooth, I could not stop caressing it.

I see. Thanks for the advice. Makes sense.

I saw the green based tone on a Toyota AE86 (the latest version, not the classic), and it looked beguiling. I could not quite make out what it looked like, because the mind has never processed that tone before, and it took me a while to decide whether it looked good or ugly. Once the mind decided it looked good, it started to look gorgeous.

That said, I finally saw the other tone I wanted on a car instead of on a sample, and the effect is completely different.

My mind was made up once I saw it in person on a car.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience. I will look into it. I think you mean the windscreen instead of mirror, right?

Finally and gratifyingly, applying the selected paint.

Some teaser pics.

Interestingly, as we can see from the above pics, the colour tone can appear vastly different depending on the type of light hitting it. And the color of the surrounding environment too, which the paint appears to pick up and reflect.

I am impressed with the depth of detail covered by the workmanship.

your colour looks like cashmere beige is it?

How to find the right words to describe the colour... depends on the light hitting it, the tone can change quite significantly. So, no straight forward colour description. To give a better picture, I'll wait until the car is done and take pics under sunlight.

Oh, I see. Your pic did not load yet when I replied. I see what you mean by cashmere beige. Nice color. That's not it though.
