Lamforder..

How can it be so many things fail at the same time? This is like going to the doctor and take medicine for head, neck, hand, leg, heart, liver, kidney, stomach, plus consultation. How sick are u?

Spend over RM4k, reset computer still need to charge ka? How well you know the shop?

So 2 years down the road when water pump fail, u gonna spend on the same list again? :13:

You just bought the car izzit? and all those parts fail but previous owner continue to use izzit?

aiyah cut him some slack AB...prolly just got the car ma...anyway I believe the mountings are on the high side...considering his is just 1.9lit engine...

I may be wrong but overall seems a lil pricey..

Hi Guys,

Yes I bough the car 2nd hand. The engine noise was like a diesel after few days and when I was driving I felt like it was not stabil. Took to that shop ( he seems to be the BMW specialist. He gave me that list and asked me to change all in order to make the car back in Shape. Had to do all. Still, now the engine sound is loud found out to be the alternator sound. Any idea, should I change the alternator too?

When your mechanic earlier could not detect the root cause of loud sound and instead asked you to change all the parts above, then I suggest you better seek the opinion of another BMW specialist.

Bro vramakr,

U shud have asked for 2nd opinion....some of mechs...so lazy to troubleshoot so they just simply ask to change this n that.

Lesson learned bro.

Thx guys! I did asked in prev thread about this issues but less response tho. Thx again

Guys, let's give the mech benefit of doubt. Those items are common wear & tear items and MAY be due for replacement IF previous owner have not been maintaining it properly. Plus, it's a 12 years old car.

But I do admit that pricing are at the high side. May be able to source for certain parts much cheaper.

vramakr, do get second opinion before visiting unfamiliar mechs as plenty of cut-throat mechs out there. Gotta beware as they mostly treat UDM owners as rich and assumed to be able to afford to pay for such high price/maintenance costs.

Nowadays workshop is not easy to con consumers..

vramakr, if we can help u to save RM300 here, i think it's the time for u to join as OM for appreciation.

all depends on how you look at it sir ..if your car after the $$$ spent is giving you lotsa satisfaction than worries ..then the price of repairs shouldn't be an issue ..but if after a day from the workshop and your car breaks down middle of no where ...then i would say they are just after your hard earned cash and they just change without much checking nor feedback as what you should look for during the next visit ..such workshop you should stay away for major works ...and a second opinion option shall be taken

i and many know he is on the high side, but he gets the work done, then i dun see him again till me car gives headache again....

you still go there ?

Yes I have to agree he is on high side but good and reliable service doesn't come cheap, cheap things are not always good too lol. Especially with my family in my car, their lifes are worth more than saving a few bucks. That is why I travel all the way there from opposite side of town.

I will not go there anymore. As i mentioned before. BW World change the ABS sensor and purposely not plug in 1 of the ABS sensor and cause the meter not functioning. Then later keeps on ask me to change the ABS module. At the end i left BM World then i bought new ABS module changed myself and let K & S USJ1 to do the coding for me. My old ABS module no problem at all.
