This is my e36. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

Kuchai kaki?

Honk if you see a silver WDR with no fog lights rolling around ;)

Are those genuine rims?

I've seen a few silver e36 from the few times I was there..didn't remember the plates though.
Don't think the wheels are genuine, but how do I tell if they are or aren't?

Nice E36 bro. More pic details on your ride.

Thanks bro, more pics will come soon..

First mod: ZHP shift knob
Done the first week I got the car but never got around to taking pictures til now

Next mod: Shift boot replacement.
The tacky M-stripe boot needs to go. Then the full glory of the ZHP knob can be seen :p

Also changed the microfilter last night. SO MUCH easier compared to the LHD models where the glove box and wirings are all in the way.
No pics, but the old microfilter is really dirty and grimy.

How much is that gear knob? and where/where/what gear boot?

$65 from Turner Motorsports. The current gear boot came with the car, I wanna put in a boot that fits. Probably gonna give Ah Kit a call one of these days.

Sorry I meant Tischer BMW in the US.
But probably can be order from a dealer here? I'm not sure, and perhaps cost a bomb..knowing Malaysian markups on stuff..

New toy
The measly 8-button one that came with the car wasn't functioning from Day 1. Scored myself an upgrade! :top:

Invited to go on an early morning run by a friend with some acquaintances and some Nissan club people, had a great deal of fun.

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior, most have monsters under the hood.

Nice view from one of the rendezvous point. Semenyih Dam if I'm not wrong.

IMG_2211.jpg

Didn't take much pictures and certainly no rolling shots because I was driving alone..
Would definitely do this again, if anyone is interested we can probably work something out and go on a leisurely drive
The route is from Taman Muda to Taman Titi, should be able to look it up on google maps.

This thread had been neglected, an unfortunate side effect of a crazy schedule; but the car has not! Recently changed the VANOS seals I got from the group buy, rattle kit was unused because it isn't needed. Pics and thoughts as follows:

Topless

Very happy to see it squeaky clean without a hint of sludge and varnish :top:

Old seals

Heard plenty of good things about Amsoil so I gave them a try this time around. Bought them for RM3XX for about 7 liters.
Very good service from the distributor, even delivered it to me at no cost.

While my old seals are hardened, it still maintains some of its elasticity and is not brittle. Doesn't crack even as I fold/bend/press/twist it. I vaguely remember the previous owner mentioning that he changed the seals but I'm not 100% sure about that..But if that's the case, it means that these Beisan seals might eventually harden and lose efficacy as well :(

With that being said, the difference is obvious. Before refreshing the seals, the car has little torque below 1.5k, picks up between 1.5 and ~3k, and only surges right after that. Also, when moving from a stop, the engine will bog a little and clutch engagement can be described as jerky.
All these went away right after the seal replacement. Engine is responsive and doesn't bog (I can even start from a go in 2nd gear!), torque below 3k rpm is restored and overall it became a very smooth and enjoyable drive. Can't really comment on fuel consumption improvement because I changed my regular route coincidentally.
I would definitely recommend seal replacement - at RM100 for the seals and ~RM250 for labor, I'd say its a no-brainer. Just get it done already!

Bonus pic: Achievement unlocked!

Yup M50 325..stick more involving to drive, I need it to make my boring commute more bearable

wow rare species indeed. any future mods in mind? thinking of adding new life to your ride by changing colour perhaps? read from your first post that your paint job aint as pristine as you want it...

Just gonna get it mechanically sound, mods will mostly be suspension related to be a fun back road machine  no lofty goals for power and what not, just my daily driver..
It could use a good paint job and new leather but that will have to wait..
I'm toying with the idea of black, imola red or avus blue, no firm decision yet.
