I am interested to know how to perform this DIY cleaning as well. Been using 320d for 2 years but only done normal service with BMW.

hi

are there any e46 320d owner here? I just recently bought this car last year and till this moment Im loving it. This is my 3rd diesel car and the 1st on bmw, the speed and the torque is absolutely incredible and the fuel saving efficiency is unbelievable, mine 5.1L/100km at this moment. I've done the swirl flap removal and replace with the blank plate and replace the EGR with bypass type. My car is almost smokeless when sudden accelerate. I've also install the chip tuning particularly on fuel saving. Some pictures just for sharing.

Good choice bro!

And wow, your E46 gives better FC than my 2 years old F30. Since I got the car till now, I've been averaging 6.2l/100km. About 70% city drive.

Yeah overseas, diesel prices may be higher than regular fuel! Especially in the US

Hi Guys,

Greetings! I personally believe Diesel is the way to go. However, just to get feedback from the Diesel users here, who has used the longest in the same engine and what is the mileage? Any problems while clocking the mileage?

A friend of mine used to owned the E270 CDI from Merc. He had some major problems with it that he sold it off after 3 years. After that, he swore never to touch diesel again.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I have used mine for 3 years and clocking 85,000km no issues at all. Other members like Docray have travelled more than 100,000km and no issues with their cars again. The diesel models brought in here by BMW Malaysia have their DPF removed to cater for our Euro 2 diesel here.

100K km no problem is impressive. With the possibilities of getting the better and new diesel soon, will the cars be able to accommodate to it looking at the fact that the DPF has been removed?

Logically I don't see any problem with a cleaner diesel. It's just like when you drive to Singapore or Thailand and you fill up your car with their cleaner diesel. However, if you truly care for the environment then you should put back the DPF as well.

Best to get it done in the UK before bringing it back. Last time someone mentioned that it costs around RM8k to get it all done here. If you can find a place cheaper in the UK, go for it.

Also there are more diesel specialists in the UK

why don't just replaced with downpipe? I just replace mine with downpipe order from UK. My intention is to reduce turbo lag and at the same time increase the lifespan of the turbo.

Anyone own Alpina D3 here?

Mel279,

It's not just about the power... the main things is about the diesel / fuel quality here in Malaysia.... many grey imported cars suffer this issue....... not just BMW...

oh yess..I know euro4 will be in malaysia market next year so maybe that imported cars from uk unnecessary remove of DPF and ECU program, right?

Which downpipe did you get? What size are you using (diameter) for the downpipe, how did you deal with the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter and what material is the downpipe?
